DHS has a policy to separate families at the border. Fact
DHS does not have a blanket policy of separating families at the border. However, DHS does have a responsibility to protect all minors in our custody. This means DHS will separate adults and minors under certain circumstances. These circumstances include: 1) when DHS is unable to determine the familial relationship, 2) when DHS determines that a child may be at risk with the parent or legal guardian, or 3) when the parent or legal guardian is referred for criminal prosecution.

What a novel idea, if you commit a crime you will suffer the consequences.

"The Trump Administration is merely following policies set down by previous administrations." Then when pressed further begin stating the facts such as laid down in this article.
.... There is a lot of disinformation out there being spun by both sides of the argument .... So what matters now is how this whole thing is handled and getting the true facts out there to the general public in a manner that doesn't sound like a truck load of childish whining.
I find it interesting that everybody’s acting like it is an absolute evil to “separate families“, when we actually do it all the time.
Feel free to use the example of a convicted murder or car thief or a person who is charged but can’t make bail prior to trial. Or use the example of a soldier who must deploy to Afghanistan or be Court-martialed. Kids taken away from a family while CPS investigates abuse is another good example.
Now the question is about where you draw the line, and it’s not quite so black-and-white.

DHS and DOJ need to improve laws for the protection of children brought or sent over the US border from Mexico.
Any adult accompanying a child illegally across the US border(s) and who cannot document their relation, should be charged with felony Child Endangerment and or Abuse (if proven). This felony charge would keep them in jail because it would require a $25,000 cash bond to get out.
The child’s safety is paramount.
If the adult is a “human trafficker”, kick up the felony charge and take the child away for its own safety.
If a child is sent across the US border illegally by their real parents, charge the parents with child abuse (in absentia) and take the child into protective custody. Then the parents can either come to the US to stand trial for child abuse, or have their government to bring their child/children back to them at their own expense.
“Child Abuse”, “Child Neglect”, and “Human Trafficking” should be made, if they aren’t already, major felonies. That would give ICE, DHS and the Border Patrol the needed authority to treat adults involved as “felons”.
Screw the Left. Protect the children!

Facts don’t matter to the media. They are like rabid dogs chewing on their prey oblivious to their surroundings. They are jacking up hysteria like never seen before. Imagine dozens if not hundreds of media and elected officials all spending weeks at the South Side of Chicago where all the violence and murders are....I didn’t think so. The media are 99% left wing activists openly supporting the Democrat causes.
Agreed he must ratchet it up to address the over the type hysterics the media is fomenting. He should do it tonight after meeting with Congress to get them a bill saying the country will be watching their votes.

exactly. Bus them back as soon as they get tot he border. They made a 7 day journey, and let then try it again. After couple of times they will not come here.
