'John McCain is a one-of-a-kind politician, and there's no replacing him,' said Stan Barnes, an Arizona Republican consultant. 'No one serving in political office today remembers a time when John McCain was not representing us in Washington.'
Some Arizona Republicans have criticized conversations about the future of McCain's seat as inappropriate. But reflections around the 81-year-old statesman's life, legacy and status as a national political figure have resurfaced via a new HBO documentary, 'John McCain: For Whom the Bell Tolls,' and his new memoir, 'The Restless Wave.'

The bill also received heated criticism from both sides of the immigration debate. The bill was introduced in the United States Senate on May 9, 2007, but was never voted on, though a series of votes on amendments and cloture took place.

If McCain had an ounce of class, he would have resigned months ago.
That's bull s**t. This comes from the era where just because a career politician is in office for decades, they're seen as some kind of icon or political standard. This is political jackassery.
If McCain’s cancer is terminal, it’s entirely appropriate to begin talking about his replacement.
He is neither one of a kind or irreplaceable, Stan and neither are hired guns like you who make a living on your knees.
If Churchill could be replaced, than so can McCain.
