For the first time since before the Civil War, California voters will decide this November whether to spilt the Golden State into three entities, dubbed California, Northern California and Southern California. An initiative to divide the state, pushed by Silicon Valley venture capital investor Tim Draper, received enough signatures to qualify it for the November ballot. Supporters say splitting the state would lead to improvements in infrastructure and education while lowering taxes.

Central California gets Yosemite (and all the water from the mountains). Let Los Angeles and San Francisco figure out where to get their food and water.
The three state plan is an attempt to eliminate all thoughts going forward for a two state plan.

It doesn’t matter, 2 states or 3, either way the State Legislature will not allow it and neither will the US Congress.................
Lets make a deal and negotiate. California becomes 3 states. In exchange Vermont goes back to being a county in New York (we get rid of Senators Sanders and Leahy) and Maine goes back to Massachusetts (we get rid of Senators Susan Collins and Angus Whatshinmae).
In that case think bigger and take the Central Valley as well ;)
Yosemite votes liberal Democrat but their county Mariposa, votes Republican. Are they going to split counties as well as the state? This is a foolish proposition, as Varney said this morning: They’ll have 6 senators instead of 2, 4 of them in the Liberal Democrat split. Don’t fall for this crazy “solution”, keep fighting to take California back! Trump is helping us.
There is already NC and SC.
Maybe they should consider East California and West California.
Two of the three “states” get to ditch Prop-13.
There are three issues to this ‘gimmick’.
First, the lines being used to draw the three-state idea are arranged to ensure 50-plus percent Democratic representation. I’ve gone over this map, and the urban areas are split enough to make all three mostly Democrat. I wouldn’t have a problem if Jefferson were allowed to exist as designed, and San Diego had the bottom quarter of the state (both would lean right). But that will never happen.
Second, if you allow them to break up into three states....why not allow Alabama to break into three states? Or allow South Carolina to be East and West Carolina.
Third, all of this talk goes straight back to Senators. We got too many as it is. Do you really want more?
Shouldn’t most of it be given back to the Indians we stole it from?
Let's split Texas into 4,(I believe they can do that) and Oklahoma into 2.
