Survivors of the mass shootings at Pulse nightclub and Parkland are planning to pressure Walt Disney Co. to withdraw its support of self-described “NRA sellout” Adam Putnam by holding a “die-in” at a Disney property sometime this month.
National Die-In, a group co-founded by Parkland survivors, is in the early stages of organizing the demonstration where protesters lie in a corpse-like pose to emphasize the effect of shooting massacres. The protest would be at a Disney headquarters or Orlando theme park.
“We want to keep doing these protests to show people we aren’t backing down,” Nurah Abdulhaqq, a Georgia teen whose cousin was killed by a gunman in 2016 and co-founder of the group, said Wednesday in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel.
National Die-In alluded to its plans on Twitter by posting “Can you guess where we’re going next?” with a “D” in the style of the Disney logo. David Hogg, the Parkland student who has risen to national prominence, responded with a tweet that said, “it’s D for die in.”
Disney has donated $789,000 to Putnam’s political committee, Florida Grown, since 2015; including $300,000 since Feb. 14, when a gunman killed 17 students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, setting off a firestorm of protests calling for greater gun control measures.
Putnam, the state’s agriculture commissioner, is a Republican running for governor this year.
A Disney spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment.
Student activists have targeted the National Rifle Association for blocking bills to limit magazine capacities and ban assault-style weapons. That has extended to companies that support politicians who back the NRA.
Last month, die-in protests at Publix stores throughout the state led the Lakeland-based grocery chain to suspend all political donations. Publix had given $670,000 to Putnam’s committee.

The participants in die-ins should be arrested on-the-spot for loitering. And they should be forewarned that that is what will happen in order to discourage the die-in.

They have a few stores in central VA but this will be the first one close to the tidewater.
I emailed them to let them know I like how they have held fast, in view of the drama, and to request they add me to their email list.
An automated response said they have had unusually heavy volume of email.
The “survivors” crap needs to stop. Hogg, for one, was NOT a survivor. Nobody seems to get the story straight where he came from to begin with as we do know he was not in the same building.

Anytime you see a fascist die-in, buy a 75 pound watermelon and carefully step over their heads and balls. Make sure the watermelon has been refrigerated, that it sweats and it’s difficult to hold.

Disney doesn’t give a shit, no matter how many people say they will boycott, there are twice as many willing and eager to throw their money at Disney, The Walt Disney Company learned this decades ago. No matter what they do, how much they increases their prices, the lemmings still race over the cliff to pay them.

Well we need to start making their dreams come true then.
Uh, you might want to do a little research on Publix.
For instance Publix donates to the YWCA who it teamed up with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (anti 2A group).
The YWCA is also a vocal supporter of same sex marriage.
Publix also donates to various United Way chapters as well as Susan G Komen who in turn use the money to support Planned Parenthood.
Good points you make - i’ll look into it. Having been to Lakeland several times for meetings with them, they remind me of Chick-Fil-A.
