Watching the events on TV, important ones involving dignitaries posing for cameras and dimwits journalists, gets really annoying. Cameras are clicking away, like machine guns, obscuring important words from presidents, kings, queens.
Esteemed photojournalists: today we have mirrorless super cameras and phone cameras that do not click - "shoot" - make stupid annoying clicky noise. They are SILENT, no need to make a racket.
Please disable the clicking or get camera that doesn't click when you "fire". Modern cameras are silent when taking photo or video!!!
This should be the rule and idiot clickers should be banned for life from taking clickapictures at events where sound is involved.
Sheeesh!
Pros use DSLR cameras, and when the mirror slaps down so the sensor can be exposed, it makes a noise. There are other boops and beeps that can be turned off, but the mirror mechanism is going to still make noise.
You are assuming journalists are smart enough to understand technology

Whoooomp!
They use old reflex cameras going 10 per second and making ridiculous noise. They have to take that many to get a bad picture of Trump.
Yes!!! Thanks for saving me the rant!
My Nikon D5100 is quiet.
Dozens of photographers taking hundreds maybe thousands of photos. Who pays these people?! Their photos must all be identical. I think the news agencies should get together and pay just one person for their photos and get rid of all the others.
Damn yeah!
Yup, it drives me nuts, thinking that these inconsiderate assholes have the nerve to make this racket. The Secret Service agents should grab and smash the unsilenced cameras.
“Dozens of photographers taking hundreds maybe thousands of photos. Who pays these people?! Their photos must all be identical.”
Ha! My thoughts too - how many freaking pictures do you need?
They do not have to use those reflex cameras they never get printed at max resolution anyway. Those silly little computers can take hundreds of pictures in the time it takes that reflex lens camera to shoot one.
They used to use pencil and paper.
They’re not shooting for max resolution , you’re right. But they are shooting for just the right moment in time, hence, those cameras that can shoot 12-14 fps, sustained over a large number of exposures. Phones and mirrorless can’t do that, at that level. Shoot an Alexa, Red, etc and just pull frames from the video, as long as you don’t need quick focusing. They’re using the best tools for their jobs, so, clakity-clack.
These rat-a-tat clicking cameras were used in the White House at all of PDJTs meetings with various groups early in his term. The clicking noises were so distracting. There are no videos for the archives in which the voices of the participants will be clearly heard. I dont understand why video cameras and 1 to 3 still cameras cant be enough.
Damn great idea! They are certainly adept at editing out applause and undercutting audience body counts for our president, silent cameras should be easy for them as well.
Yes, but they do tend to upset giant gorillas!
There are now mirrorless dslr. No need for slapping mirrors. My 5 year old samsung nx1 has silent sbooting and high resolution. Can take 4k video too. Silently.
ditto....diTTo...DITTO !!!
Why can’t a $10000 camera be made to work silently? Im suspecting it is a “bling thing”...lookee me, my camera is louder than yours.
Most digital cameras I've used allow selection of shutter sound or silence.
Older photographers find some comfort in hearing the audible feedback of a film camera. The source of the film camera's sound doesn't even exist in a digital camera.
