Above is from 5 years ago. From what I understand, Trump wants states to form thrir own high risk insurance pools with assistance from the Feds in the firm of block grants. Works for me.

Have the Dems shown they are ready to attack any actual issue?

It is now June and the election is a few short months away.

The Dems have gotten fat and lazy allowing the media to attack Trump for the smallest ‘infraction’ now matter how small and/or imaginary. The left in general have expended so much powder on what they know to be a frame-up (Russia) that they have all but abandoned anything of substance.

They can blame Hillary for hanging about but the nominal leaders are still Pelosi and Schumer with an assist from Sanders (who is still not an actual Democrat) and they couldn’t lead a fish to swim.

To claim the Dems have an issue to run on assumes the Dems are interested in issues full stop. Their outrage at losing has blinded them to taking any steps to recover. The media have convinced them that Trump Hatred alone can motivate voters but evidence of this is scant.

Once again, Obama’s presidency is paying negative dividends. He essentially fulfilled every leftist pipe dream domestically and abroad with disaster following closely behind. A goodie that costs dearly and is wrapped in miles of red tape is not the electoral winner they imagine.

A general in war, and, this is a quiet revolution, does not always get to pick the time and place of a battle. The case came up now and Trump’s generals had no choice but to respond to it now. To take the opposite tact, supporting Obamacare in any form, would have demoralized his own forces and caused more damage than sticking with the strength of his polices and convictions. Sometimes you have to trust the voters to see past the one or two things they like to view the larger picture.

Now would be the time for Trump’s generals, whoever leads various efforts, to stress what he plans to replace Obamacare with. He needs to go on the offensive. “Tweets away!!!”

Insurance for those with pre-existing conditions is not insurance.

It’s like buying home owners insurance AFTER your house burns down.

It is technically called a “benefit” when people are given preexisting condition coverage.

The courts are highly unlikely to resolve the issue before the election. If they did, Congress could be called back into session to provide a legislative fix.

You can’t have Obamacare style guarantees and have a free market in insurance/healthcare.

There are other ways to address the pre-existing conditions issue, but yes, the GOP needs to have its story right on it.

Look at the graft and corruption within the medical programs that are run by these politicians now . The pool of money that is taken for just medicare and medicaid is slush fund for the career hack to use in the typical round abouts way that ends up lining the rnc/dnc funds along with the huge governmental staffs and agencies that grow and spread like warts . Healthcare should be obtained just like any other service and the power and decisions need to be the individuals decision....it is NOT to be handled by a group of scumbags who omit themselves from what WE the unwashed plebians have to deal with . We all know that anything these political mafioso’s touch becomes tainted and warped from the original goal and plan . Not the governments job to be in the healthcare business. F k obama and the boondoggle of the national government run healthcare...

Protections for people with pre-existing conditions are hugely popular

The media has spoken.

This is the authors opinion. Nothing more. I don’t take anything from axios or politico (same thing) seriously. In the age of Trump, most pundits dont have a clue and have lost credibility.

So an 8 year old is diagnosed with diabetes. His parents have had insurance on him since he was born. He goes to a company which has insurance for their employees. He's not eligible?

Pre-existing condition is a difficult dilemma. Let's call it destiny which makes ALL conditions are pre-existing.

Defining pre-existing is almost impossible.

Attacking what is just about the only really liked feature of Obamacare could come back to bite the GOP.

It's also the feature of Obamacare that is one of the biggest factors in skyrocketing premiums for medical coverage.

The administration isn't attacking the pre-existing conditions feature. It's supporting the authority of a state government that wants to allow insurance carriers to sell plans that don't cover pre-existing conditions.

This -- along with the elimination of lifetime caps on coverage -- was one of the worst features of Obamacare. The fact that it's "just about the only really liked feature" of Obamacare tells you that the whole monstrosity was built on delusional expectations.

I am sure DJT has this calculated. He will win with it and it will not hurt in November. We don’t see yet how it will be done and what he will follow with.

Trump has said he’s coming out with new health plans this month. Be patient. He’s a busy man, winning for us in so many ways.

Trump ran for President on things he wanted to accomplish during his Presidency ... Democrats will pretend everything was suppose to be accomplished within the first two years.

As outrageous and stupid as that is, the press will buy into it and DEMAND ANSWERS on why every comment, every nuance, every thought wasn't accomplished within the first two years....

Yes, people with pre-conditions should get insurance, but THEY should pay for it!

The Democrats expect us to pay for it!
