Vermont's New Mandate: All Residents Must Have Health Insurance

Vermont is poised to require that all residents have health insurance.

Republican Gov. Phil Scott late last month quietly signed into law a bill that will include a penalty for those who don’t have insurance. The mandate is scheduled to take effect in 2020.

A spokeswoman for the state’s largest private health insurance provider said the mandate provides stability.

Nationally, many have rebelled against the idea the federal government could tell them what they needed to buy.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a similar law days later.

The simple solution is to NOT require insurance, but refuse medical treatment if you can't pay (cash, credit or by insurance).

Insurance is not health care. What don’t those imbeciles get the idea? A health care provider has to accept the insurance otherwise it’s no good.

Those in states without a mandate will still wind up paying for the out of control cost of the mandated states because those states will be reimbursed by the feds through medicare.

That’s how Romneycare was effectively working for Massachusetts.

And perhaps even more importantly it does not reduce the cost of health care and may even increase it.

Wasn’t Vermont one of those states in the news paying people to move there?

A RINO Governor quietly signs a state Obamacare mandate into law.

The Uniparty is alive and well in VT.

It’s so good they have to threaten you with fines if you don’t have it. I’m pretty sure people who can’t afford health insurance can’t afford the fines either.

The healthcare system has grossly inflated prices, much like the higher education system due to government involvement preventing competitive market price transparency.

It’s become a horribly unsustainable racket, just like college costs...

So basically health insurance lobbyists got this after the federal one went away.

That "Republican" Governor of Vermont makes one wonder what the point of voting is at all. Like how much different would Sue Minter have even been? He's doing everything she would have.

That will include ‘a penalty’ for those who don’t have insurance. The mandate is scheduled to take effect in 2020.

Figures New Englanders.....nough said.

That’s how Romneycare was effectively working for Massachusetts.

My experience with Romneycare has been this: I pay $400 bucks a month for just little ol' me. It does not cover prescriptions, doctor visits, blood work, eye care, dental care or any medical tests until I hit my deductible of $4000. I get a bill after every medical encounter and pay everything out of pocket.

I have grossly overpriced catastrophic health insurance.

and being an ex-Canadian, I have always asked this question to obamacare lovers: what if you cant afford the mandate or dont want to pay up?

It’s not clear in this idiot’s mind about any penalty. In canada, you just write a letter to your provincial ministry you have no money.

That’s effectively 8800 dollars for healthcare each year not including costs after your deductible is satisfied.
