How college literally drives students nuts

Now that colleges and universities across the nation are disgorging their graduating classes for the year, you might wonder what kind of employment opportunities are available to those students who majored in subjects such as Diversity Studies, Feminist Studies, Victimology and other esoteric knowledge. Well, I think I’ve found the answer: They get hired by the University of Michigan.

Yes, U of M, that bastion of free speech and free expression, now has 93 – let me spell that out, ninety-three – diversity staff on their employment roll. I suspect U of M is not alone in the size of this specialized workforce.

Payrolls at today’s universities have become so bloated with unnecessary and unneeded administrative personnel that their tuition costs have risen nearly four times faster than inflation. This is just one of the many reasons graduates emerge shackled with tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt.

In a 2015 New York Times article discussing the rising cost of college, University of Colorado law professor Paul F. Campos notes, “Interestingly, increased spending has not been going into the pockets of the typical professor. … [A] major factor driving increasing costs is the constant expansion of university administration. According to the Department of Education data, administrative positions at colleges and universities grew by 60 percent between 1993 and 2009, which Bloomberg reported was 10 times the rate of growth of tenured faculty positions. ” [Emphasis added.]

And what do these massive numbers of administrators do all day?

Apparently, they look for new and creative ways to make the lives of their students miserable.

Someone posted a list of some of the "positions" and salaries associated with them last week. I think the lowest salary I saw was $90k. Nice work if you can get it. Plus you probably get put in the PEPF. Public Employee Pension Fund.

FWIW,

I do consumer lending and when I have a borrower that is a retired school teacher?

They make bank !!

Five to ten grand a month in “retirement”, plus whatever “Current” income they may generate.

It’s insane.

Pocahontas Warren was paid $385,000 a year to teach a single class at Harvard. That means two one & one half hour classes per week. And she has the f-ing Chutzpah to rail against college.

Good grief. How many young people can afford four to six years studying for worthless degrees? Over ninety teachers in diverse studies that are worthless? It’s like majoring in liberal electives.

Well it makes sense if the colleges are driving the students nuts — sense that some colleges have loaded up with numerous non- academic “counselors” ( mostly of a psychological or sociological bent) to provide all sorts of advice. There can be so many of them in so many different offices ( mostly with very uninformsivr Orwellian titles) that nobody can tell which office to go to for “help” with any particular mental problem. ( this assure a lack of accountability too)

They are the elite of the retiree world. Wait for it...”Oh, but they work so hard and are underpaid!” (Maybe 40 years ago)

‘Wait for it...”Oh, but they work so hard and are underpaid!”

followed by ‘they only want to be treated like humans’ as one Freeper so tearfully put in a public school teacher thread...

One of the things, which sent the quality of public education into a downward spiral in the mid Twentieth Century in Cincinnati, was the diversion of teachers into Administrative posts.

Who else would hire people with these useless degrees?

And it’s like they breed their own. They support and teach in the departments of worthless knowledge and then support the further establishment of positions that require a degree in useless knowledge.

Yeah right.

I would say that from what I have encountered, they are clueless cake eating bureaucrats.

They, on balance, know nothing about lending/borrowing, interest rates, math or the legal implications on either side.

They got a Job, kept their head down and put in their time. Their contributions to actually “educating” our kids is secondary to what they have achieved for themselves. They consider themselves “Successful” teachers because they are receiving $10,000 a month in retirement.

As a result, many of these “tools” think they know better and their opinions are superior.

It’s a sad state of affairs when the arrogance of idiots with money encounter the reality of life.

They tend to want to tell US what to do.

”Oh, but they work so hard and are underpaid!”

Especially because they're so well educated! At least according to them.

Wonder why the young people are upset? When you graduate with a worthless degree with no real job opportunities and lots of debt, you are upset.

Perfect diversity will coincide with “uniformity of behavior, thought, beliefs and actions.”

A past President once observed a truism; "Elections have consequences!" but that also applies to actions prior to elections.

The EDUCRATs have prospered ever since the old Cabinet Department of Health Education and Welfare (HEW) [1953] was split into the Cabinet Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Education (DoED) under Jimmy Carter in 1980 preceding his contest with Ronald Reagan. Captured immediately by the progressive LEFT, it has done nothing, by evidence of global scholarship rankings and SAT/ACT scores, to improve LEARNING but everything to spend more money of EDUCRAT causes and income.

A very pertinent case-in-point was the FECKLESS and infamous "Dear Colleague" missive issued under the Obama Administration's DoED Office for Civil Rights (2011) concerning the handling of Title IX accusations of sexual misconduct. The miasma of suggestion contained in that 'letter' gave (and required) institutions receiving government funds to void the rights of the accused (almost always males) in the equivalent of star chamber internal proceedings.

The obvious response to those diktats was a strong increase in the staffing of the administrative organs charged with the enforcement policies. Referrals to outside, civilian agencies where the usual Constitutional protections come into play were reduced as unnecessary and duplicative.

Gee, wonder why costs have sky-rocketed and law suits have proliferated?

Not teachers, diversity staffers. Making sure everyone is PC and handling those that aren’t. I believe that’s the way it was presented.

IT’S a Crazy Train!
They teach and are taught godless drivel
and discouraged from thinking for themselves.
The exorbitant pay feeds the Beast!

We Are Doomed!

Teacher

Jethro Tull

Well the dawn was coming
Heard him ringing on my bell
He said, my name’s the teacher
Oh that is what I call myself
And I have a lesson
That I must impart to you
It’s an old expression
But I must insist it’s true
Jump up, look around
Find yourself some fun
No sense in sitting there hating everyone
No man’s an island and his castle isn’t home
The nest is for nothing when the bird has flown
So I took a journey
Threw my world into the sea
With me went the teacher
Who found fun instead of me
Hey man, what’s the plan, what was that you said?
Sun-tanned, drink in hand, lying there in bed
I try to socialize but I can’t seem to find
What I was looking for, got something on my mind
Then the teacher told me
It had been a lot of fun
Thanked me for his ticket
And all that I had done
Hey man, what’s the plan, what was that you said?
Sun-tanned, drink in hand, lying there in bed
I try to socialize but I can’t seem to find
What I was looking for, got something on my mind
