It’s Not Bigotry to Believe Homosexuality Is a Sin

Another Christian has lost his livelihood for good-faith wrongspeak. This time it was for articulating extremely basic Christian truth that it’s sinful to celebrate sexual immorality. Here’s BuzzFeed with the story:

A high-ranking CrossFit employee was fired after tweeting his support for a CrossFit gym’s cancellation of a Pride event, citing his belief that celebrating LGBT pride is a “sin.”

Russell Berger was the mega-successful fitness company’s chief knowledge officer, often de facto spokesperson, and a co-author of the Russells, a blog about scientific misconduct that he maintained with colleague Russell Greene.

But Berger got into hot water Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted about a CrossFit gym in Indianapolis, Indiana, where owners canceled a workout in honor of Pride Month. Many of the coaches and employees quit in protest, according to WTTV TV in Indianapolis. On Wednesday, the gym posted notices that it was shutting down.

So, for those keeping score, that’s a job lost and a gym closed because it’s just intolerable that a Christian either publicly express his moral point of view or that other Christians refuse to host events they find objectionable.

In reading comments and commentary about this latest turn in the culture wars, I’m struck by the extent to which Berger’s views are cast as pure, indefensible bigotry — and that it’s entirely acceptable to not just label his Christian beliefs false but also to believe that they’re actually malicious.

But isn’t that a bigoted view? What qualifies an external critic to define the veracity of a man’s faith or the purity of the thoughts in his heart? There seems to be a mistaken belief by some that sexual orientation is absolutely core to a person’s identity whereas religion is something else entirely

I did not yet read the article; however, the headline is troublesome. 'Homosexuality' can be and is interpreted many ways depending upon which side of the debate one may be on and depending upon how one may or may not be informed by a well formed conscience.

Homosexuality; the predisposition to be attracted to the same sex, cause unknown; is not inherently sinful; regardless, homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered and always sinful. There are as far as biological and physical science is concerned no homosexual beings; regardless, there are those who mentally 'feel' they may be or are 'homosexual'...

God judges hearts, man judges actions and legitimately discriminates between which actions are good and which actions are not good...

It depends on how you construe “bigotry”, which is a made-up word like “racism”, both of which have many meanings or no meaning, and are used as epithets.

They are surrogates for “discrimination”.

Discrimination is essential to life (good water vs. contaminated water, food vs. poison, danger vs. safety, etc).

If you have negative opinions about homosexuality and you do not bury them in the deepest recesses of your mind so no one except you ever knows of them, you are discriminating.

Whether or not your discrimination makes you a “bigot” is not up to you but to others, who may or may not have your best interests and those of your family, community, church, or your nation at heart.

It is completely futile, a waste of energy, and a diversion from actual issues to deny that you are a “bigot” or a “racist”.

Those STDs are not specifically tied to homosexual sex. Heterosexuals are the ones most affected by them.

But the point is that science has made both homosexuality and “unrestricted sex” of either type safer.

Ironically today there is more social stigma attached to unrestricted heterosexual than homosexual sex thanks to the feminazis and their labeling of most sex as rape and all the recent #metoo movements. Nowdays a guy in college and at work better think three or four times before even approaching a woman.

There seems to be a mistaken belief by some that sexual orientation is absolutely core to a person’s identity whereas religion is something else entirely — so superficial that any given person is one Vox explainer or Bill Maher monologue away from enlightenment.

Unless of course you are a protected minority such as a Muslim in which case religion is magically transformed in to a boundless virtue unassailable regardless of the horrors performed in its name.

All across America LGBT Americans live and work alongside Christians who disagree with their actions and beliefs and also treat them with dignity and respect. It’s not hard to do when you love people and seek to imitate Christ.

A true Christian loves the sinner and hates the sin.

If a Christian points out that those that practice LBGT acts is are sinners and that their acts lead to eternal damnation it is not because we hate these people it is because we wish to spare them the pains of Hell and wish them to share in the forgiveness of Christ that we all (mankind) need to escape Hell.

Every Christian recognizes that they are a sinner and that every other person who crosses the threshold of their church is also a sinner. We all must seek forgiveness and fight against our baser nature. We all are weak and fight temptation no different than those who suffer from LBGT demonic influences.

It is not hate to declare that these acts are sin it is charity.

Russell Berger may be what Catholics term a White Martyr. One who suffers retribution and ridicule for their Christian faith without his blood being shed. There is no real definition for White Martyr but I would consider Russell a candidate for the title.
