The Supreme Court has ruled on the Masterpiece Cake case and on the surface, it would appear to be a loss for L.G.B.T.Q. Americans. The justices ruled 7 to 2 that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission violated the religious freedom of a baker, Jack Phillips, when it sanctioned him for refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay couple, Charlie Craig and David Mullins, in 2012.
The commissions hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendments guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority.

How did Colorado even have a case against the baker when the State itself didn’t even recognize same sex marriage at the time.
Colorado Civil Rights Commission should be put against a wall.
The ERA was rejected. Totally failed. Never seen for 35 years.
Now, we can argue over the merits of such an amendment and what is the government's proper role in such matters. That said, for the Slimes to print an oped pushing for leftists to use a tool the Founders gave us, is a bit stunning.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Equality...shall not be abridged...
Is that the same “shall not be abridged” used in the 2nd Amendment?
I believe its the New York Times that is running an effort to expose fake news. Word on the street is they hired famed French investigator Jacques Clouseau. There he will trip over it 1000 times before he identifies it, if he ever does.
Yesterday I heard a pro-gay libtertarian ‘conservative’ talk radio host say that the baker was able to show years of Christian observance, walked the walk in all aspects of his life, etc.
I don’t find that requirement of no sin, no hypocrisy, no recent conversion, etc. If it is your firmly held religious belief, that should be enough.
Even the Pastafarians who insist on drivers license photos with metal ‘hats’ don’t actually wear them when they go driving.
I read it and I think the proposal was ridiculous, hence my “no” comment.
Lets amend the Constitution so that fake rights like abortion, homosexual marriage, and diversity discrimination are eliminated
And strengthen REAL rights like the Second Amendment and First Amendment Religious Rights, the Tenth Amendment and NO PERSON, not just the PC crowd, of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments
Oh yeah, and about that lifetime tenure for judges and birthright citizenship ......get rid of that
Sad but true. Some of these folk, the LGBTXYZ crowd in particular, expect everyone in America to yield their rights simply because they are feeling a bit feminine on any given day.
Some days I yearn for the good old days when the consensus was they were struggling with a mental disorder........
What part of Freedom of the Press would you like to see constrained?
Exactly. The defintion of “Tolerance” has been changed from basically “live and let live” to forced acceptance.
Oh, you say the muzzlims are exempt?
At least there is some spirited opposition in the comments, along with the usual zombie fellow travelers.
The proper place for queers is in their closets
Hear, hear. At least one of them have the guts to admit what the rest of them are whispering. The Left seeks to have everyone equal — except for them. Only they can decree what’s correct for the heathen peasants.
“All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others” from Orwell’s Animal Farm pretty much sums up all one needs to know about the left.
How about just plain no
Other bakers would have made that cake for you
Why do you feel it is necessary to amend the Constitution to include the endorsement of another person's delusions?
No surprise, since Ruth Buzzie Ginsburg thought that our Constitution wasn’t suitable for other developing countries.
