FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ DISAPPOINTMENTS ~ 03 June 2018

DISAPPOINTMENTS

Disappointments come to all of us; and the more I see of life, the more convinced I am that one of the most important lessons anyone can learn is how to handle these disappointments. One of the great disappointments in my youth happened during my sophomore year in high school when I was running for class president.

The class elected a cute brunette cheerleader. Another popular girl, another of the cheerleaders, came in second. And I trailed the field with only four votes. That was quite a blow to a cocky young boy to be defeated by not one, but two good looking cheerleaders. I felt that all my friends had deserted me.

It is sometimes hard to see God's hand in things. We may not understand why things happen the way they do. But God has a way of working through things, and fashioning our disappointments into something worthwhile. The girl who defeated me in the class election later became my wife!

Prayer: O God, make us aware of your presence day by day. Help us be assured that all our disappointments can be turned over to you, and our lives can be strengthened and renewed. Amen.

LT Kermit Holl, CHC, USNR

Thank you, lightman...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours as well.

Sure glad the ankle is good again, and the flooding has stayed away.

We just had 2 HUGE claps of thunder...a rarity. One kept going and going. 15 minutes ago it poured for 10 minutes in the back yard and was sunny in the front. The black clouds look like they are getting closer. MORE thunder. I love it. Hope it brings a good steady rain.

Howdy, PRO!

It was a busy day but a good one. Spent a good part of the day at the museum working on more uniforms, then stopped at a car show on the way home to chat with some friends there.
It was pretty darn hot and muggy today and the heat has left me limp.

Tomorrow will be a kick back day here. LOL!

Just a gentle inch and a half spread out over a day and a half...ground getting saturated so training thunderstorms would be a very bad thing.

Fortunately for me the training storms have been staying about 15 miles way...too bad for those in their path and too close for comfort.

3 hours to go on the Flash Flood Warning.

Howdy, radu! Hope you had fun at the museum this morning. Many visitors? Was it hot? Did you get a lot done?

Doin’ nothin’ is good for this old gal too! LOL

It does feel good, doesn’t it?

I didn’t take the camera today because they haven’t unpacked any totes in a few weeks. Nothing new on display at this point.
The nice thing about them not unpacking is seeing the big dent I’ve put in the tote of uniforms I’ve been working out of. They haven’t added any more lately and the level is way down. Feels like I’m making progress but that will last only until they fill it back up again. LOL

Not too many darlin’s in the house the past couple of days. Most have been stinkers. Lake is the most recent to be yelled at this evening.

Suvi’s a darlin’ though. Just the sweetest lil thing! She’s gotten more active and playful since she’s been eating regularly and is putting on weight nicely. She’s in my lap at the moment distracting me with her cuteness.

You been over to play with the pups lately?

Howdy, LUV.

Yep, had a good time at the museum today. It was a little warm in the room I work in but I took a fan to keep me comfy. It worked.
I didn’t melt until I stopped at a car show on the way home. UGH, it was hot out there.

It wasn’t very busy today. Some days are busier than others. We figured a lot of people had gone to one of the lakes in the area since it was so hot.

Got several uniforms done but since I reached a batch that had obviously been at Creely’s for a long time, they each took a while to clean. Lots of lint and dust.
Some days I can knock out more than other days.

Are they still predicting a drop in temps down there tomorrow? We’re supposed to get a drop and we’re ready!

Good that Suvi is getting nourished and feeling better!

I went over earlier today to hang out with son and see the pups.

Last weekend Robin opened the backyard gate to do something in the front yard and the little guy bolted through the gate to freedom, LOL, and ran away to the neighbors yard and beyond...

Well, she chased after him screaming that he better get back here, or else! (like that worked, LOL).

Anyway, I came out, knelt down small and he came to me before he got in big-time trouble, LOL.

He's quite the trouble-maker but a cutey.

Poor lil girlie was so skinny when she showed up Monday. She’d been out on her own several days.
She’s sulking now because I put her down. She was getting wound up and little needle claws were digging. OUCH!

That bad little Wild Man, running off like that and nearly giving momma a heart attack.
Who was she more upset with when he returned? Him, or you because he went to you when you called? LOL

Yes, they’re saying 91 for a high. It’s gonna have to hustle to get that cool. it’s still 87 down from 101 this afternoon. However, I did notice that the wind was from the NE, so maybe there is hope.

Glad you enjoyed your day! I’ve been wondering if you find a lot of the uniforms have moth or other damage. What happens to those? Do you salvage the buttons, insignia, etc?

Howdy, Kathy.

WOOHOO! Thunder! Sounds like AJ dragged some of our weather up there with him. LOL!
I hope you got some more rain after that first storm.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

My goodness did you have the adventures today and LOTS of cookies for Penny!

We had half a dozen really good thunder events. Now the black clouds that were advancing are now retreating. A really good rain would be nice.
