In 1990, PBS ran a concert performance of the musical from New York with purely operatic talent. This is the original 1927 orchestral arrangement, and Flicka does a fine job with it. The chorus is exceptional.

Previn never completely left his roots in jazz from his days in the Fifties. He’s one of the great conductors of the Russian orchestral repertory, but in this 1995 recording he teams up with three jazz greats.
