Liberals' worst nightmare: a second supreme court pick for Trump
The Guardian ^ | May 31, 2018 | Sabrina Siddiqui

hen, just weeks after taking office, Donald Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court, the newly minted US president made good on a central promise of his campaign: to replace the late justice Antonin Scalia with a bona fide conservative.

That moment foreshadowed what is shaping up to be among the most indelible of Trump’s triumphs – the reshaping of the federal judiciary with the appointment of dozens of judges with an ideological bent toward the administration’s agenda.

Republicans are working with Trump to make a record-breaking number of appointments to federal courts. These new, mostly young, white men will be in a position to rule on legislation that could change America for years. But the most contentious appointment would be a second nomination to the highest court in the land. The supreme court has over decades delivered landmark decisions on issues from abortion to affirmative action and same-sex marriage. The potential for Trump to install another justice on the nine-seat bench, some legal experts argue, could have profound consequences on issues ranging from women’s reproductive health to LGBT rights. With speculation mounting over the possible retirement of supreme court justice Anthony Kennedy, Trump could have a lasting impact on reshaping America’s most important court.

What happens happens, but I don’t want to see us telegraph we would gain joy from the murder of another.

I despise McCain with barely any equals out there, but the Good Lord will take him at the right time.

That’s good enough for me.

“In actuality the nominations are going fairly rapidly in spite of divided Republican Congressional delegations. There are no miracles to come.”

“Going fairly rapidly” is a relative term. This bull$hit “comity” with the RATs in the Senate is detestable. None of their so-called “rules” are codified in the Constitution, they are just these worthless bottom feeder's nonsense about how “hallowed” the Senate needs to be. If you want to take a chance you will “kill” your TV, watch these worthless turds take a vote! If they are going to be killing time, they need to start working it to death The Senate must get to be a majority, "Little Trumps", getting things of value accomplished, and not just naming Post Offices!

Of course! But we should be praying for “help in thinning the herd!”

Wouldn’t it be grand if Kennedy retired and both Ginsburg and the Sotomater retired off the court due to natural causes.

That would in effect could reinforce the 10th amendment and would stop anybody like Obama in their tracks.

Kennedy has been one of the worst justices in history. Anything “good” he has done has been far eclipsed by the damage he has wrought. He has essential giving vicious, activist homosexuals unquestioned rule over us all, and esconsed Obamacare into almost permanent status.

He won’t get anymore if we lose the house and senate, but apparently if you look at these special elections republicans, especially conservatives are staying home.

POTUS needs to stress that letting the house and/or senate go the dems means losing all upcoming SCOTUS appointees.

Some people think they’ll never reach your age ... they’re probably my age (mid 40s) ... we were trained by our overlords an media idiots at MTV that life ends at 27 or something stupid like that.

They didn't say it as a joke...they'd say it with a sense of sadness. When you work in that kind of setting you develop a rather unique view of death.

Indeed. When my daughter was in Nursing School, they assigned her to the oncology unit for her 6-month practicum. It was very hard for her to provide the best care she could for patients, only to see so many of them die. I guess that's kind of why she is now an ER Nurse; granted, she still sees death there, but whenever that occurs it's rapid. And borderline cases get sent "upstairs".

The Wall isn't built yet, and doesn't look like it will be started this year.

Not with RINOs running the Congress. Can the Admin change treasury rules regarding remittances to Mexico and take it for use in building the wall? These annual remittances topped $69 billion in 2016, according to central bank data.
