Bakery Fires Employees And Admits It’s Racist After Refusing To Serve Black Woman After Hours

Portland, Ore., bakery caved to a disgruntled customer’s allegations of racism and fired two employees after they wouldn’t serve a customer because the shop was closed.

Back to Eden Bakery sent multiple apologies and public statements admitting it’s racist because it refused to serve a black woman who entered the shop after hours and asked to buy a pastry even though the shop had closed.

The incident occurred in early May and is now circulating in the news, garnering a strong public response on Facebook and social media. A woman named only as “Lillian” entered the bakery at 9:06 p.m. after the shop had already closed, according to the bakeshop’s Facebook post about the event. Confusion arose because the shop was unusually busy for the late hour and there were still a few customers in line who the shop agreed to serve but who’d been informed the shop was officially closed. The lighted “Open” sign had been turned off.

Just blame the POS terminal software. The hours of operation does not permit additions or entries outside of the established working hours for security reasons.

Not locking doors at closing with customers still inside is industry standard.

I’m fairly certain it would violate fire codes to lock them in.

We turn off the sign and shut equipment down at closing time even if customers are lingering. People have come in, are disappointed to hear that the kitchen is closed, but leave without much fuss.

Dunno. Run by two “sweet” cohabitating male SJWs, charging high prices for their gluten-free vegan concoctions ($3 for a cookie, $4 for a donut, $4.25 for a cupcake). My boss told me I had to close the till out after our closing hours and that was it, no more sales.

I waited until everyone was done, but there’s no way I could’ve kept ringing up customers after my till was closed.

The last time I was in a Starbucks, there were 3 black women working there and I was the only customer. When they finally got around to taking my order, I stepped aside and waited. And waited and waited. They were messing with their phones and their braids. Finally I leaned over and said politely, "excuse me, is someone going to make my drink?"

Blacks and their incessant whining and accusations. I had a friend move from kalifornia to the deep south to manage a factory production facility. He didn't have black employees in kalifornia, but loads of them in the south.

He complained that whenever he tried to get a black employee to actually work, the employee would threaten him with charges of racism.
