Report: Israel and Iran engage in Indirect Negotiations Over Syria Fighting

Israel and Iran engaged over the weekend in indirect negotiations in Jordan regarding fighting in southwestern Syria, according to a Saudi-owned website.

According to the Elaph website, the Iranians pledged not to participate in expected battles in southwestern Syria between President Bashar Assad’s forces and rebel groups, and Israel has made it clear that it will not intervene in the battles in the tri-border area, as long as Hezbollah and the Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias are not involved.

The unconfirmed report said the negotiations were conducted last weekend between Iran’s ambassador to Jordan, who was in one hotel room in Amman with Iranian security personnel, while in the next room there were senior Israeli security officials, including the deputy head of the Mossad. The report said a Jordanian mediator carried messages between the sides.

Elaph sources said that "the talks with the Israelis were related to fighting in Syria and the nearing campaign in southern Syria, particularly in Dera'a and Kuneitra."

Furthermore, they said that Israel made clear to the Iranians they should not become involved in fighting close to the Israel-Syria ceasefire lines in the Golan and the Israel-Jordan border. One participant in the talks reportedly said that "the sides discussed this issue with the Israelis, and arrived at a quick agreement that even surprised the Israeli representatives."

Iran’s ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Mostafa Moslehzadeh, reportedly received instructions from senior officials to conduct the negotiations with Israel in Amman.

Encouraging news for a change. A little pragmatism, realism and compromise from the these two nations in their dealings with each other would go a long way in stabilizing that part of the world.

Reminds me of The Line of Demarcation. The Pope drew a line which gave half of Planet Earth to Spain and the other half to Portugal. Or maybe it was just the new world. You know, “The Americas.” Of course then the question for the Pope from back then, “What about France, England, and Germany? Not to mention all the other countries already established on Planet Earth.

That is not negotiations. Israel blew the crap out of Iranian forces in Syria while Russia whistled in the wind.

“the sides discussed this issue with the Israelis, and arrived at a quick agreement that even surprised the Israeli representatives.” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is because Israel was kicking the shite out of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard units, hurting them badly as they build up forces close to the Israeli border areas.

Whatever the agreement is, Israel should continue to kick the shite out of the shi’ites. Saudi is assisting the Israelis secretly as we recently saw with their joint force raid on Syria’s T4 air base.

This is all about Iran’s drive to possess Medina and Mecca.

The Iranians have asked Israel to step aside.Fat chance of that.(sarc.)

That is good news.

Unfortunately, Hezbollah still has 60,000 rockets aimed at Israel from southern Lebanon.

That is, if true.

Right now, I’d classify this firmly in the realm of RUMINT, if not a bit of wishful thinking. And as BerlinFreeper notes, blasting the crap out of the opposition quite helps the negotiating position.

Bingo. Maybe the Iranians are weary of getting their asses handed to them. Maybe Israel would leave Iran alone, if Iran didn’t move their forces and weapons to Israel’s borders. I don’t think Israel 🇮🇱 appreciates that, and have no intention of giving Iran a safe haven, on their border, from which to attack them. As long as Iran keeps doing that, Israel will keep handing them their asses. 😁 Notice, the Russians don’t seem to be doing anything about it. Netanyahu was in Moscow. I wonder what they talked about? I don’t know, Iran, maybe?

Also it is widely unknown that the Saudis assist Israel with intel and the occasional special forces teams.

Iran is about to be beat back down the well of the 12th Imam ,
Muhammad al-Mahdiwhere he had disappeared ( Occultation.).( That’s an interesting story, when we know what myth actually shores up the Iranian Mullahs.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_al-Mahdi

The Iranians want Medina and Mecca. The rest of the world suffers accordingly when they are denied.Time to kick their asses back down the Imam’s well of Shiraz.)

I thought that applying the tenants of “Non-Violent Conflict Resolution” was the key to solving the Middle East problems...well, at least to every US president prior to Trump.

There was a KSA Royal Air Force Military medical flight about 48 hrs ago from Luton to Riyadh...Maybe MBS is out of commission as the Israeli’s new BFF.
