There's a great scene in the movie Witness where a bunch of bullies start picking on some Amish farmers, and then they pick on Harrison Ford, who is sporting Extreme Mennonite drag. They knock off his straw hat, laugh at him, and then he beats the crap out of them.
The bullies are shocked, stunned, and bewildered. Why, hes not supposed to fight back! Why, the Amish, theyre better than that! But Harrisons not. As his buddy says, hes from Ohio.
I am not better than that either. How about you?
Because today, being better than that means being willing to allow other people to control you by defining you, and the definition is always a pushover. Youre supposed to be conservative, our conservasuperiors tell us, and we must therefore rigidly adhere to their precious conservative principles. But these bear no resemblance to real principles, much less conservative ones.
Allow me to sum up these fake principles:
Dont ever fight.
Dont presume to exercise your own right of free expression.
Lose like a gentleman.
Yeah, no. Hard pass, Fredocons.
Last week, the NFL, broken by our informal boycott, took action against those kneeling jerks, and the elite including its True Conservative collaborators wet their collective panties all over the Internet about it. How horrible we flexed our muscles, stopped watching these pampered jerks antics, and the NFL caved. Were not supposed to do that. Were supposed to behold these goofs glorious free speech, which consists of waving middle fingers in our mugs, and just nod politely. We arent the ones who should be exercising our freedom of expression. We are the ones who are supposed to cave. We are always the ones who are supposed to cave.
I guess we missed the memo.
Oh, and how Task Force Pearl Clutcher lectured us for not adequately defending the First Amendment that a bunch of us were physically defending when the vast majority of them were back home getting their masters in 17th century philosophy and sipping Zimas. Worse, they shamefully took to the enemy microphone that is the New York Times op-ed page to scold us and spew out exactly what the liberals wanted to hear that we conservatives should never, ever take our own side in a fight.
Apparently, the going rate for professional conservatives is thirty pieces of silver and a byline in American Pravda.
Liberals never seem to have this blue falcon problem, because they understand power. But then, those of us less concerned with getting an invitation to talk to donors at the National Weekly Liberty Forum for Eagle Family Liberty Standard Coalition and Cruise than not having progressive Birkenstocks ground into our faces forever, understand power too. And, scandalously, now were using it.
The liberals were likewise beside themselves at the results of our push back, prompting them to go into one of their trademark sessions of coordinated but inept gaslighting. Why, how dare we Normals take offense at this peaceful protest of love!
Baloney.
This kneeling thing was mindless performance art designed by these leftist jerks, and enabled by the liberal elite and its slobbering media lapdogs, to insult us to our faces by committing an act of calculated disrespect to our country and to the Normal Americans who built it, feed it, and protect it.
It was a scam and a lie from the word hike. This dimwitted protest was always directed at us, and no one else. If it wasnt us, who was it? The America-loathing elite that was cheering them on?
These preening primadonnas did not have to choose the football game venue, one we attend to escape from things like politics and condescending lectures. They did not have to choose the National Anthem, a symbol of the country we love and serve. If these overpaid, pampered, posing fools wanted to protest whatever it is they are protesting, they could have done it differently, but then doing it differently wouldnt have freaked out the squares. That was the point, and now they are mad because we took their insult exactly as they intended it to be taken.
And they arent even man enough to admit it. Their new story is that this has nothing to do with us Normals, that it's not an insult. No, it's a heartfelt plea for something. I guess the pig-cop socks and Castro T-shirt were gestures of respect.
Lets get real. They wanted to rub our faces in their contempt, to laugh at us as we had to endure it, humiliated by our own powerlessness. We were supposed to just sit there and take it. We are never supposed to use our own power to fight back.
Oops. Look whos laughing now. Turns out we can throw a punch as well, and did, slugging the feckless NFL right in the wallet. You want to politicize everything? This is politicizing everything. Enjoy. Were playing by the New Rules too.
But gosh, we cant do that. Oh well, I never! How dare you Normal Americans get militant and actually fight back, whine the kneelers of Team Principles. Real conservatives dont fight back. See, thats not who we are.
No, thats not who they are.
We understand something the Conservative, Inc., goofs never seem to figure out. They howl that all we are about these days is owning the libs and winning, but heres the thing. Sometimes, you have to win. Sometimes, you have to stop yapping and start performing. Once in a while, you have to put points on the board. Otherwise, people stop listening to you. Its possible to spend your whole career inside Conservative, Inc., drifting from cheesy think tank sinecure to lame magazine scribbling gig, never actually winning anything. But out here, in America, we want to, and need to, prevail. Our rights and our dignity are merely theoretical constructs to the Fredocons, and are of no significance to them. But our rights and dignity matter to us. And we are acting and voting accordingly.
These cruise-shilling nags have delivered nothing but tiresome scoldings and a never-ending series of capitulations. No wonder they cant seem to sell out those two-twin bed deluxe cabins along the Lido Deck anymore.
No wonder Normal Americans turned to someone like Donald Trump when these pathetic losers were only offering us more defeat and more humiliation at the hands of our enemies in the culture war.
We reject the bizarre notion that we are somehow obligated to stoically take guff from people who despise us without responding because doing so is unconservative. We decline to be commanded by conscientious objectors.
Heres how we roll. When the enemy deploys its power against us, whether its some football jerk dissing us via Old Glory or some tech titan deciding to not allow us access to social media, we will fight back using whatever power we have. Well bankrupt the NFL before we just sit there watching them flip us off. And well leverage our political power to regulate the Twittfacegrams into submission if they keep trying to exclude us from participation in our own culture. There is no conservative principle that requires you to not use your most effective weapon in your own self-defense. None.
But thats not conservative! the sissies whimper.
Thats true only if you adopt a definition of conservatism that presumptively surrenders whenever it meets resistance. The simple, undeniable fact is that punishment works. Retaliation works. If you want the Old Rules back in effect Id prefer that then you need to teach the enemy that it cant apply New Rules without feeling the same pain it inflicts. Thats a real conservative principle.
Unilateral disarmament doesnt work.
Remember, nothing in conservatism ever obligates you to accept an end-result where you must silently endure disrespect, where you are excluded from participation in your own governance, or where your rights are voided. None, though a bunch of allegedly conservative racketeers disenfranchised by the revolution that led to the election of Donald Trump are still trying to sell you on that idea.
Laugh at them and their fussy complaints about how you fail to conform your life to their labels. Fight back. Remember, militant Normal Americans arent from Washington. Theyre from Ohio.
You beat me to it (see my tagline). Although I would also make it a (small l) libertarian-nationalist. I want as much freedom as possible, but you can't have freedom without a strong nation, something the Libertarian Party doesn't get. So first and foremost I'm a nationalist.
Kurt rocks!!!!
I’d rather die as a free man on my feet than live as a slave on my knees.
JoMa
Bread and circuses.
The title could just as well been:
Why Trump uses Twitter.
We have no wall.. trillions in spending.. a bunch of pave pave America plans. Syrians, more h1bs, if this is not bowing, then we are in more trouble than we know.
I can’t tell much from this article, but there have been a series of articles that pretty much go like this:
1) You (conservatives) won - the players are now going to ACT more like they love America.
2) Some still won’t, and they’ll stay in the locker room, and then slip on to the sidelines, hopefully with no one noticing.
3) Now shut up conservatives and PLEASE start SPENDING MONEY on football again. And, as a first step, PLEASE renew those season tickets, so that we can at least keep our gravy train going for another year.
As I’ve noted before, stopping the ‘in your face’ protests (as they’re trying here) will NOT work. They let that opportunity slip right through their hands when the owners sided with Conlin in the early days of the ‘protests’.
They need to do MUCH MORE than what they’ve done, to have any chance. I would suggest the following:
1) Take the $90M per year you plan to lecture us with about race and instead put it in a fund to pay for the educational expenses of kids who have lost parents, due to cop killings - if anything is left over, send it to the survivors for real-time expenses.
2) Apologize to the country and THANK the country for giving you guys such amazing career opportunities, both in football and throughout society. Tell football fans that even though you may think (correctly), that there is still racism in the country, it DOES NOT occur on the field, and protesting it has no business there either.
3) SUSPEND the players who act up during the National Anthem, including stay in the locker room. Act up - you get to SIT OUT the entire game, without pay. That simple. Don’t blame the team with a meaningless ‘penalty’, it’s not their fault. Act up a second time, then a 4 game suspension without pay. Act up a third time, same punishment, 4 games...eventually the owners will figure out you’re not worth the trouble of tying up a roster position for the troublemakers.
Thanks, FrankR!
It's easy to see what Lefties would do IF they could take guns away from us Normals.
The NFL collectively pissed in my Wheaties. I have no appetite for Wheaties now.
I am not going back to the NFL. To the big shots in the board rooms, BEWARE.
4) FIRE the commissioner. His replacement must have identifiable pro-America actions based on real pro-America values.
ABSOLUTELY!
Should have thought of that. That was an IN YOUR FACE move to re-hire him.
“That was the point, and now they are mad because we took their insult exactly as they intended it to be taken.”
Good article. The above quote reminded me of when I was a teen and had to deal with peers who would say something insulting and when called on it claim it was “just a joke”. Once you realize what is going on you have to tell them in no uncertain terms that if it continues there WILL be consequences.
The two big lies were that kneeling wasn't about what kneeling was about and that the boycott was only galvanizing the NFL and wasn't effective. Oh sure, but only in their alternative world spun by the willing left wing media.
Anyway, I will be a happier spectator of the NFL this year. Just like I am happier about the goings on of the office of the POTUS. I'm not going to "win" and then not enjoy the win.
I understand those who will "never" again do the NFL. They weren't boycotters obviously, but rather people who were offended at a deeper level and will not return regardless of the responses of the NFL. But they should realize there are plenty of folks like me who hoped that our monetary pressure would adjust the business practices of the NFL. We were heard and even garnered support from our POTUS and I am glad for it.
Don’t be fooled.
Petty penalties for “kneeling” are just window dressing.
The NFL gave almost $100 MILLION to leftist, cop-hating organizations like Black Lives Matter.
They are DEAD to me.
One life, LIVE IT!
One of my favorites.
I've maintained for a long time that the only way the Left succeeds is by doing what Schlichter mentions re the Fredocons do. They're the equivalent of concern trolls, and really aren't interested in thwarting the Left--they hope that they get eaten last by the monsters they help foster.

except in reality, the townspeople would not allow these hooligans to do anything like they did in the movie...
Except the Green Bay Paker’s field in Green Bay, Wisconsin belong to the citizen of Green Bay, and a individual team owner, that got the the field payed by tax payers dollars and puts the profit in his own pocket. That is why my husband and I became fan when they won in 1997
Im aware of that. Thats one of the reasons that I became a Packers fan.
I also appreciated their winning tradition and the fact that they were located in a smaller town.
But I cannot, in good conscience, support the NFL. Also, Aaron Rodgers is a rabid leftist from Berkeley.
