On Friday May 11, 2018, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein stating Comey testified the FBI didnt think General Flynn lied. Grassley also revealed Joe Pientka was the second FBI agent who joined Peter Strzok on January 24th, 2017 in an ambush style interview to take down General Flynn.
Grassley demanded the FBI and DOJ produce the transcript of Flynns intercepted calls with Russian Ambassador Kislyak and the related 302s by May 25th. (302s are reports FBI agents take to summarize an interview with a subject.)
The recently unredacted portion of the House Intel report revealed Comey testified to House Intel members the FBI agents who ambushed Flynn did not detect any deception. The report also revealed the illegal leak of Flynns phone call with Kislyak is what allowed the FBI/DOJ to keep a counterintel operation open on General Flynn.
Chairman Grassley is demanding answers from the FBI and DOJ by this Friday the 25th.
In the last paragraph of Grassleys letter, he requests Special Agent Joe Pientka be available for a transcribed interview with Committee staff:
Accordingly, no later than May 25, 2018, please provide: 1. The information requested in our February 15, 2017 letter, including the transcripts of the reportedly intercepted calls and any FBI reports summarizing them; and 2. The FBI agents 302s memorializing their interview of Flynn and 1A supporting docs, including the agents notes.
In addition, please make Special Agent Joe Pientka available for a transcribed interview with Committee staff no later than one week following the production of the requested documents.
Investigative reporter, Sara Carter stated a couple weeks ago that according to numerous law enforcement sources, neither Strzok or Pientka believed Flynn was lying during their interview with him, as reported. Special Agent Joe Pientka and another non-partisan law enforcement officer were present in the Flynn interview per Sara Carters sources.
Legal expert, attorney and former special investigator, Joe DiGenova, believes that Pientka may be a good cop based on his actions related to the General Flynn case (see video below at the 6:00 mark)
Chairman Grassley quite properly wants to see the underlying 302 forms of the FBI agents who did the interview, the ambush interview of Flynn, at the White House during the transition period rather shortly after the inauguration.
Its pretty obvious that Comey and McCabe got together and decided they wanted to frame Flynn because they believed, they believed, believe it or not, that he was a danger to the Constitution, not them. He was a danger, when all he was doing was communicating with people that he had a legitimate right to communicate with, both as a candidate Foreign Policy Advisor, and as the National Security Advisor Designate, and as a National Security Advisor.
So Grassley wants to see the notes of these people and he wants to interview the one agent who was there who was very, very, very serious about how Flynn did not deceive. That agent that he wants to interview is the agent who went to the Inspector General and complained about the conduct of Strzok and McCabe.
This will drag out past the 2020 elections. Only then will Justice be able to get around to the Clintons and Obamas, and Jarretts.
Well it appears there is one FBI agent willing to step forward. That's a good sign.☺
Flynn needs to sue the crap out of the key players. They have immunity as government employees, but that immunity is not absolute. They have only qualified immunity when their bad acts are constitutional violations.
Why should these a-holes be able to hang on to their millions?
A Federal investigation might, but things are moving much more quickly in other areas because there are ongoing criminal cases here. Someone charged with a crime is guaranteed a “speedy” trial by law, so these cases proceed much faster than others. I believe trial dates have already been set for Paul Manafort and Concord Management, for example.
,,,,, yes we have the guarantee of a “Speedy Trial” ,, but that doesn’t mean a speedy trial is what happens due to many types of legal delays .
I believe Manafort has a trial date in July in one of his two cases. The arraignment for Concord Management was just held a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure where that stands.
A court stenographer is an officer of the court and takes down every word and, I believe, gestures if they seem to be in place of words. They use a special type of typewriter that deals with shorthand. An FBI agent who hand writes notes after a meeting is very different. Probably both archaic systems should be changed.
Pray for the safety of agent Pientka.
Flynn was a lifelong democrat, an Obama appointee, and a good buddy of KGB/FSB Putin, often appearing on the state-controlled media outlet RT (Russia Today). I was very happy when he left the Trump admin. Paul Manafort, too.
It’s probably done that way so the government can lie, which is what they do professionally. Lying written words are better than truthful audio. How do you expect them to lie if they’re recorded?
Spot on. Local LEOs could never get away with presenting handwritten after the fact notes of a suspect’s interview. And something must be done about the felony of lying to the feds. At the St and local level it is at worst a misdameanor obstruction and rarely prosecuted.
Spoke to a friend, a retired SAC with the FBI. He admitted that there is no felony of lying or perjury for agents, only the charge of demonstrating a lack of candor.
And everyone should read Michael Goodwin in today’s NY Post. This is a guy who voted gor Barky in ‘08 and then recognized the truth.
What evidence do you have that video and audio records of the interviews do not exist as well as the 302?
I would argue that such records keep the written 302 honest and can be dissiminated easy and quickly read whereas a video takes a long time to review.
Is this the same fbi guy that had a gag order lifted a few months ago.. This man just saved the republic, a hero...
What evidence do you have that video and audio records of the interviews do not exist as well as the 302?
The fact that they havent been submitted as evidence.
Pretty simple, really.

Documents Trump videos
Not recording interviews (except since 2014 for those of a suspect in custody) is longstanding FBI policy. The agents take handwritten notes and then those are used to create their 302s.

I know. Its a stupid policy and should be ended immediately.
No recording, no interview.

Completely agree. A digital recorded is cheap, and anyone who talks to a government official needs to make their own recording that is also being uploaded to the cloud during the conversation.
Woa!! The last sentence was the big drop!
Dude went to the IG!!! Do you know what a shiite storm big deal mic drop that is, in the FIB?!?!
Woo hoo we gots another confirmed WHITE HAT, was there, and is coming forth.
