Leakers to the New York Times confirmed in a story published on Wednesday that the FBI had run a spy operation on the Trump campaign that involved government informants, secret subpoenas, and possible wiretaps.
The story comes ahead of the release of the pending Department of Justice inspector general report on the FBI’s actions during the 2016 election, and likely is an attempt by the leakers to paint the FBI’s efforts in the most flattering light possible.
But the story revealed that the FBI – which is supposed to be an apolitical agency – was spying on the Trump campaign through phone records and with “at least one” human asset.
“The F.B.I. obtained phone records and other documents using national security letters — a secret type of subpoena — officials said. And at least one government informant met several times with Mr. Page and Mr. Papadopoulos,” the Times reported, citing “current and former officials.”
The revelation of “at least one government informant” appears to confirm a Washington Post story last week in which leakers revealed that the FBI had a “top secret intelligence source” — a U.S. citizen who likely lived overseas — who had spied on members of the Trump campaign for the FBI.
The Post‘s report came out as House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) was fighting the Justice Department for access to information on the source.
According to the Wall Street Journal‘s Kimberley Strassel, the source meant “the FBI secretly had a person on the payroll who used his or her non-FBI credentials to interact in some capacity with the Trump campaign.”
“This would amount to spying, and it is hugely disconcerting,” she wrote in a piece last Thursday.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing I would put past the likes of obama, Clinton, et. al. These self-styled progressives are nothing but power-hungry socialists with fascists tendencies. They will stop at nothing to gain the power and control they crave.
Even worse, they've convinced themselves that they are not the bad guys here - in spite of all the lessons of history regarding how bad such people and ambitions are for humanity as a whole. No, they've convinced themselves that they are right, they know what's best, and that the rest of us are too inherently stupid, too uneducated and ignorant to understand the utopia they are trying to create.
They are living in a bubble, an echo chamber where they are struggling to save us from ourselves. As such, they see themselves as benevolent overlords who must marshal us, even coerce or force us into submission to their will - for our own good. They see the ends as justifying any means. You cannot trust these people at all. They are amoral, even evil, yet think they are doing the right thing.

Unfortunately, most Americans don’t realize that classification cannot be used to conceal illegal activities - even by the FBI. As more and more details emerge (and we’re not done yet - not even close), it’s pretty clear that Brennan had his hand in this crap. The tradecraft is pretty sophomoric and crude; typical of Brennan, i.e., too easy to reconstruct with pretty piss-poor OPSEC. Furthermore, it’s time to point out the fact that, contrary to media reporting, Brennan was not an NCS case officer. He was an analyst, which is why there was such an outcry among Agency case officers that he became the Chief of Station in Riyadh, a position traditionally filled by career case officers.
The real question isn’t a revelation about FBI spies in the Trump campaign, but rather why did the NY Slimes run with the story. Clearly they are trying to get ahead of the IGs report which is coming out any day (tomorrow perhaps?)
Don't forget Brennan and his buddies in the British/Australian intelligence services.

I think what you’re saying pretty much sums it up. When you understand that Obama and all of them figured Hillary would win, they knew that all of this would be swept under the rug.
How else can you account for the fact that they did not contact Trump directly. Then Comey meets with Trump, and writes down that Trump, “Asked me to investigate any allegations about Russian contacts with prostitutes who were saying they had contact with Trump. And Comey doesn’t understand that this in of itself shows that Trump had no contact with the Russians and that it exonerates him?
Is Comey that stupid or does he think we’re stupid.
Then we have Inspector Gum Shoe John McCain who gets wind of the fake dossier, (from who I wonder? Who told him?), and he gets it and give it to the FBI, only the FBI probably already had it.
No... If you work backwards you can see that the Trump camp was being set up at every step, and dumb@sses like McCain were involved also to spread the fake dossier.
Funny however, that even the press wasn’t buying the contents of it, as no one would publish it.
