The person who stabbed five people in Paris on Saturday night, killing one, yelled the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar," meaning "God is great," during the attack, city prosecutor François Molins told reporters at the scene.
Four people were wounded during the Saturday night knife attack in the touristy 2nd arrondissement, or district, of Paris.
Two of the victims were gravely wounded and two others were lightly injured, police said
The attacker, who French President Emmanuel Macron called a terrorist, is dead, according to police.
The media wing of ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published online.
The Amaq News Agency said "the person who executed the stabbing in Paris is a soldier of the Islamic State." The statement also said the assailant acted in response to calls to attack anti-ISIS coalition countries.
ISIS did not provide proof to substantiate the claim and no authorities or security sources have yet verified the authenticity of the ISIS claim.
Macron said he salutes the courage of the police who "neutralized the terrorist" in the Paris knife attack, according to a tweet from his official account Saturday. He says his thoughts are with the victims.

:(. Was just thinking today that they hadn’t had an attack in quite awhile. Well there you have it. A nice reminder for them to be more cautious who they let into their country.
Will the police be unable to determine a motive?
Not an existentialist from the Left Bank?
Well, Macron called him a terrorist, and I’m shocked.
It does NOT mean “God Is Great”!
It means “(Our) God (Allah) is Greater!”.

The poor man was hungry and looking for the snack bar when he had an attack of low blood sugar. He simply lost control. It can happen.

Western Europe is committing suicide. The caliphate will soon be a reality if something radical is not done to meet the threat.
“Authorities remain baffled.”
The EU leaders are absolutely looking to provoke “something radical” to happen across the continent. Note Macron’s “business as usual” demeanor, too similar to Obama’s even though he did call this a terror attack.
Yep, I wonder. Normally, we are told there is no evidence of a connection to terrorists, and/or they are unable to determine a motive.
Why I have no desire to travel the world
“Western Europe is committing suicide. The caliphate will soon be a reality if something radical is not done to meet the threat.”
Your reasoning and conclusion is beyond question. It’s unbelievable that people who think otherwise have enshrouded themselves in the false robe of intellectualism. It is smart, and ‘intellectual’ to believe that we will all prosper more if we get along and avoid hatred and conflict. On the other hand, it is absolutely stupid to believe, in a world in which we need police and military protection, and locks on the doors of our houses and cars, that we should let our national defenses down and welcome in those who hate us and want us dead. It’s beyond stupid.
Even if I could afford it, I won’t travel abroad. Besides the TSA grope-a-thon which I have been chosen on more than once.
I refuse to let it stop me. I visited Paris just last year, and I'm going to go to London in two weeks. Thinking about going to Vietnam and Thailand for next year.
Interesting. Others have shouted the same phrase in similar attacks.
Do you think it might be a clue, as to the motivations of these killers?

Ha anyone blamed it on global warming yet?
I'm enrolled in both TSA Pre and Global Entry. It helps.
Hey France, how is all that beautiful LIBERALISM working out for you???
Ain’t it pretty???
