Palin: Hearing that McCain regrets picking me for VP is a 'perpetual gut-punch'

Sarah Palin said Thursday that Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) admission that he regrets picking her as his running mate in his failed 2008 presidential bid is "like a perpetual gut-punch."

The former Republican vice presidential nominee said the senator's recent remarks were "not what Sen. McCain has told me all these years, as he's apologized to me repeatedly for the people who ran his campaign," she told the Daily Mail before speaking at a pro-Trump PAC fundraiser.

In his upcoming memoir, “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations,” the 81-year-old senator laments not selecting former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) as his vice presidential candidate.

McCain still gives Palin high marks for her work on his campaign.

"I attribute a lot of what we're hearing and reading regarding McCain's statements to his ghostwriter or ghostwriters," Palin told the Daily Mail, saying she would have to hear from McCain herself.

McCain is currently at home in Arizona where he is receiving treatment for brain cancer, but remains a strong voice in the GOP and the Senate where he often criticizes the Trump administration.

“How do they know his brain tumor isn’t affecting his decision making?”

Good point. Why hasn’t anyone brought that up? And how do we know it hasn’t been affecting his thinking for 20 years?

Maybe all of those scalawags should be tested for brain tumors.

I would never have voted for this loser.

There wasn't anyone else...It was McAmnesty or Obama.

Obama, never pushed for amnesty like McCain would have.

Sans Palin, McCain could have shown Mondale results. When McCain checks out he won't leave a vacancy in the Republican Party or the human race.

Republicans in Congress probably tell McCain when they talk to him, "Keep thinking John. That's what you're good at."

” I know exactly of which I speak.”

You were a POW at the Hanoi Hilton?

Have you even been to SERE school?

Hell, have you even worn the Uniform of any US military branch?

I doubt all three.

Because you don’t know jack shit.

McCain’s comment about Palin wasn’t personal against her. He surmises that a more liberal running mate might have won him the election.

Considering how McCain has treated her during and after the election why is it surprising to her.

Rather late to send a Dear John letter from your deathbed, McCain.

Those who like Palin here, are surely informed by now that I am far less of a fan of hers. That being said, I realize she acted honorably in accepting the Vice-President slot, when McCain offered it to her.

This is a man that would trash a woman of the night in the middle of giving him a lewinsky. He's just not all there, and as surely as he would betray the nation, he would undoubtedly turn on anyone doing him a service.

Without Palin, McCain maybe gets 25-30% of the vote. With her he pulled over 40%. Then as soon as he endorsed Obama and lost the election, his team turned on Palin, and McCain allowed them to do it without rebuke.

Palin didn't deserve that. The nation didn't deserve him.

Now he's back to slamming her again.

I'd call the man a drunken lout, but Lord knows he's not drunk.

Anyone with sick parents knows how bitter, vindictive, and ugly they can get. Nobody expects that to happen pre grade school, but with John it did.

When John McCain passes away, I actually hope the nation turns up the commemoration ceremonies. The nation has survived, and that's plenty enough to celebrate.

Palin, I apologize for the way McCain treated you, but you should have known far better than to back that crusty old badger when he ran for the senate again. We could have been rid of that SOB in January 2011.

You know Sarah, McCain is the sucker in all this. He shed all the honor he ever had, and it wasn't much by trashing a person that answered his call and stood by him.

John is a petty little disgusting tyrant wanna be.

Big sigh...

Sarah, he's a dishonorable, treacherous, back-stabbing, disloyal piece of crap.

You should have scraped him off your shoe a long time ago.

Given what McCain has done over the past decade, I hope Governor Palin will learn to take slights from McCain as the compliment they really are.

Anyone who has lost someone to brain cancer, would attribute it to McCain’s brain cancer. It is an insidious condition/illness.

Too bad McCain wasn’t Hillary’s running-mate (or vice-versa). The finger-pointing would be on an epic scale.
