Looks like 27 states register votes by party. As it’s been said a lot of older former rats never switched their registration.
And as far as I know, rats don’t usually cast more primary votes in Republican areas
We also have William Kelly running as a Constitution party nominee. splitting the protest votes on the right, which is abusurd. One of them needs to GTFO. McCann quit the Senate GOP conference, not sure why that was called for.
Neither has been included in polling that I know of. I would expect them to get 3% to 8% combined or so.
Unless viability is shown, I will vote for Rauner, even in the face of hysterical persons ringing a shame bell in my face.

In the book they shave her bald, in the show they just made her hair short. It’s actually a political move to destroy her power by letting peasants call her a whore and throw rotten food at her. The books haven’t gotten to the aftermath but in the show this plan fails miserably.

I’ve not really been a big fan of the fantasy genre. Sci-fi, yes, but fantasy stuff like “Games” or “Lord of the Rings” just bores the hell out of me. Although I will readily admit I have a terrible crush on Emilia Clarke. Her accent alone is a turn-on. It’s hard to find a young woman with an accent that doesn’t sound like nails on a chalkboard these days. :-(
The fantasy (i’m “meh” on that as well) elements are fairly light , it’s more like a historical drama (though of a fictional word based on medieval England).

I’m just having a hard time, period. :-(
I’ve known Mark Shaw for five years, so I know that he’s conservative. He’s pro-life, pro-gun rights, anti-gay marriage, and anti-illegal alien. He’s more conservative than Schindler, and Shaw will be a great chairman.
I haven't seen any complaints about Tim Schindler's record on then on the issues, he serves as a Cook County Commissioner (one of the few Republicans on the board opposing the overwhelmingly socialist agenda on the board), and seems to be well regarded by most conservatives. He's not my ideal choice, but I would argue he's the most conservative IL GOP chairman we've had since Gary MacDougal in 2002. Given that the last four chairman were the odious Jack Dorgan (who Shaw backed for Chairman, BTW), gay marriage luvin' Pat Brady, Andy "Combine" McKenna, and Judas Baar Topinka, I find Schindler to be a breath of fresh air in comparison.
My ONE major beef with Schindler is he's been a Governor Rauner cheerleader in the past, but the same can be said for many of the "tea party leaders" trying to oust Schinndler (hypocrisy, much?) and plenty of FReepers are holding their nose for Rauner in November because they don't want JB. I disagree with 'em but if that's the worst thing about Schindler, he's still 1000X times better than any IL GOP chairman over the last 16 years.
As for Shaw, actions speak louder than words. Shaw has been the committeeman for the 10th District for years, and the Republican officials there (local, state, and federal officials) are anything BUT pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-traditional marriage. Under Shaw's "leadership", they are notorious for nominating RINOs who vote like Democrats. What has Shaw done to change that? Did Shaw support pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-traditional marriage candidates for Congress, or did he back RINOs Mark Kirk and Bob Dold? Did Shaw endorse Kirk's primary challenger for the U.S. Senate in 2016 after Kirk had proven to be a liberal Senator?
Furthermore, I've talked with several Republicans who are familar with Shaw, and they believe he is to the left of Rauner on immigration. William J. Kelly even stated that Shaw wrote a letter to Rauner and said the Democrats amnesty bill didn't go far enough to "help the undocumented community" and that Rauner should insist it be rewritten to help illegals more. Shaw argued that doing so would help Rauner "win over Hispanic voters". Is Kelly lying?

Sorry, I see no evidence from his track record that Shaw will be "more conservative" than Schindler, but I do see numerous evidence he will likely be less conservative. The only thing Shaw has in his favor is a bunch of prominent "name" conservative endorsing him and claiming he is the true conservative anti-establishment "Tea Party" candidate in the race. Again...shades of Liz Cheney running as the "true conservative" candidate for the U.S. Senate.
In short, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Billy seemed to lay out why Shaw is bad news, Phil. Could it be that Shaw has been lying to you about his positions ? It wouldn’t be the first time a Republican lies to your face and goes and supports the radical left agenda. If the rhetoric doesn’t match the record, you can’t support the person.
I think that Shaw supported Kirk and Dold, in the general elections because Shaw thought that Kirk and Dold were better than the Democrats. In the primary between Kirk and Marter, I don’t think Shaw endorsed Kirk.
Dold’s voting record was so awful he made my Democrat Congressman look like Jesse Helms. He could’ve switched parties without altering his voting record and still been on the far-left side of the Democrats. It’s astonishing how he could even win a Republican primary with such an abysmal record.
Kirk apparently did the same song-and-dance in 2000 and fooled some conservatives into thinking he an "improvement" over John Porter and would "vote more conservatively"
Still, there's no excuse for Mark Shaw to continuously back rabidly pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, gun-grabbing leftists RINOs for state legislature, congress, and the U.S. Senate (ESPECIALLY when they were being opposed by more conservative candidates in the primary), which is what Shaw's track record is as Lake County GOP chairman, and 10th District committeeman.
Unfortuntately, Marjorie Kubalanza isn't the one running for Chairman. Mark Shaw is, and I don't recall him similarly going to bat for conservatives against RINOs.
Speaking of the 2016 IL GOP convention, one of the reasons I'm inclined to back Schindler over Shaw is that Schindler did a fantastic job having an open and fair convention process, and I was at the 2008 convention where they did everything behind closed doors and tried to screw us out of having a vote on anything, so I can tell you that it was really was a 180 degree change from the way Andy McKombine ran things 8 years earlier. Schindler allowed a motion to have the delegates as a whole approve an amendment to the party platform and he did an accurate vote count that showed the delegates overwhelmed approved traditional marriage, and had the platform amended accordingly. (McKombine wouldn't let us READ the finished platform until minutes before we were supposed to approve it, then "reported" that every vote was from the floor was a "yes" vote regardless of how many delegates shouted "NAY!" during the roll calls)
I think its a bad idea to throw someone out as chairman who has played fair for the first time in well over a decade.
I voted for Dold in 2010 because, at that time, I didn’t know that he was liberal. In 2012 and ‘14, I skipped that section of my ballot because I thought that he was too liberal. In 2016, I voted for a write-in candidate, Joe Kopsick.
Please ask at least five Lake Co. conservatives, who have known Shaw for at least three years, about him. A majority will say that he’s conservative or very conservative.
Well, looks like the Schindler-Shaw contest for IL GOP chairman has been called off. They worked out some backroom deal where “principled conservative” Mark Shaw will be co-chairman under “Rauner Republican” Tim Schindler.
Despite what Shaw and his fans say, I think this had little to do with ideological differences, and everything to do with Shaw looking for a way to advance his prestige in the state party hierarchy.
