According to the Scottish gov’t drinking one glass of wine a day for 7 days is considered “excessive”.

The new legislation sets a 50 pence (approximately 70 cents) minimum price per unit of alcohol.

What in blazes is a unit of alcohol?

Once again, CNN publishes something not true as a news item. France used to enforce minimum pricing on various alcoholic beverages to protect the wine industry. I suspect that they still do.

CNN can't get things straight, even where their depraved ideology is not in danger.

They’re taxing whisky in Scotland. It’s been tried before. I wonder if anyone has really thought this scheme through?

Liberals never learn. Government price controls never work.

Certain jurisdictions in Canada (BC and Ontario) have government run liquor boards that essentially do what Scotland does.

For example, wine imported from France that was imported at $1.00 a bottle - the store owner cannot sell it at $10 as he wished but MUST price it at $19.
