The New York Times never discouraged U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy from retiring during the Obama administration, but the newspapers editorial board is now literally begging him to stick around.
Headlined Please Stay, Justice Kennedy, the open letter in Saturdays edition implored him to remain on the high court amid rumors of his retirement, saying [y]our departure right now from the Supreme Court would have dire consequences for the country.
Why? If Mr. Kennedy leaves, his seat would be filled by President Trump, which would mean the court will have a locked-in right-wing majority for the rest of most of our lifetimes. They [Republicans] wont even have to steal a seat to do it.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

Only Republicans steal SCOTUS seats.
Democrats win them fair and square.

So much for their lie about the courts being objective.
A liberal court is hardly objective.

Does it really matter whether he retires and President Trump appoints another SC Justice? Whoever he gets to replace any of the fossils controlling our lives will eventually stab Conservatives in the back.
Little Johnny Roberts has repeatedly sided with the liberals on DeathCare. Now Neil Gorsuch sided with the Liberals on immigration. So who cares?

Whatd they think about Scalia dying? Great point. It was disgusting. Furthermore, irregardless of the ideological slant of a justice, extreme old age has a detrimental effect on decision making. Sticking around is pathetic and does a disservice to America.

Yes, I agree with that.
Still, when 330 million people will have to live with their disgusting rulings, it is hard to fault mother nature when their end comes.
