A Texas dad playing with his children at a local playground got quite a surprise when the police showed up to question him, stating that his pro-gun shirt was “making other parents uncomfortable”. Troy Johnston and his two daughters, ages four and six, stopped at Castle Park on March 30, so the children could enjoy the park’s swings and maze, he told Blue Lives Matter.
Several other parents approached Johnston while his daughters were playing, alerting him to the fact that a woman was very irate with the verbiage on his shirt and was threatening to call the police and warning other parents not to go into the park because of “a man with a gun”. Johnston was legally and openly carrying his handgun on a hip holster.
According Benbrook Police Department (BPD) Corporal J. Reese, a woman contacted the department at approximately 3:21 p.m., and reported a “suspicious person” with a “gun holstered to his chest,” was wearing a shirt that read “You control your kids, I’ll control my guns.”
Cpl. Reese arrived at the scene, where he made contact with the woman.
She claimed that Johnston “was making other parents on the playground very uncomfortable with his t-shirt,” the corporal wrote in his report of the incident. “The subject did not act threatening to anyone, nor did he threaten anyone.”
The woman told police she was not worried about the gun – which officers noted was located on Johnston’s hip, consistent with the information he provided to Blue Lives Matter.
She was not scared of the gun,” Cpl. Reese said. “[She] was concerned about his t-shirt.
Johnston “voluntarily identified himself” to police as he sat in his vehicle, the corporal noted.
“I offered my LTC to the cops. They didn’t ask,” Johnston told Blue Lives Matter. “I love my shirt,” he said. “I’ll probably order more just so I can wear them every day I’m off of work.”
Looks like I need to wear my “Gun Owner” t-shirt more often. Maybe the next time we visit the wife’s Cali relatives.
If this can happen in Texas, it can happen anywhere.

This is a new level of stupid right here. The t-shirt triggered her but the actual gun did not??
Imagine being dumb enough to call the police over a t-shirt that did nothing more than address Second Amendment rights.
Are we now at the stage where this adult woman is going to demand safe spaces at parks because she can’t deal with reality?

For those suprised this happened in Texas:
California is in a liberal death spiral. Those getting out unfortunately bring their leftwing politics with them - not unlike a plague.
This is driving several states to the left - Texas, Arizona, Colorado - as the transplants bring new libs to the state.
There are enclaves of libs all over as well, especially in the white flight suburban areas. Those seemt to harbor the most clueless among us.
And, yes, I know Reagan was governor of California, Nixon carried it, and there are still patriots there (including FR’s founder).

That’s a good point, but that’s the left these days.
They aren’t stopping Free Speech, they are creating “safe zones” where people won’t feel threatened or uncomfortable.
It’s a clever trick.
The other thing they do is say any opposing viewpoint is “speech violence” ... so they have a right to ban it or act violently to stop it.
There was a kid suspended last year in some school district for going ‘bang bang!’ using his thumb and finger as a gun.
The insanity level rises each year it seems.
Hence all the conspicuous public displays of affection by gays on TV and movies these days.

Isn’t the implication, when worn at a kid’s playground, that your kid may be shot if I don’t think he is in control?
I wouldn’t call the cops. He has the right to wear the shirt. But it seems like an odd shirt to wear to a kids playground.
It’s just like the concern trolls who call the cops on someone who has one of those off-road jacks strapped to their Jeep claiming that it looks like a machine gun.
It's time to split the country... 'liberals' should live in California and other liberal insane asylums etc.
Time to vote on the issue. We should not be living with people this nuts.
