NHL referees build their reputations on their competence in enforcing the rules and making the right calls without interfering unduly with the flow of the game.
They tend not be a showy lot, unlike this narcissist who’s all about being the first openly gay ref anywhere.
I am tired of the LGBTQIDIOTs. I’m not okay with any referee who thinks his sexual activities are of interest to viewers. A ref’s job is to call violations accurately, not to announce his personal life.
Can he keep up? He’s not out there looking for a date. What difference does his sexual preference have to do with his job?
What does this idiot want? More power so he can claim sexual discrimination if he gets caught fudge packing in the locker room?
This is what I call gay power gathering. First you identify yourself publicly as a protected homosexual, and then you start doing things which offend people generally , such as hockey fans,fellow referees and team owners, then you yell discrimination if you get fired or disciplined.Typical pattern.

No one cares what he does in his sexual life as long as he makes his ref calls professionally. Now he will have to be tolerated when he makes a call and throws a hissy fit.Many players will want to punch his lights out.This will likely happen now at some point, and game or season suspensions will be handed out.Imagine the millions that will cost the owners.

If you ask a hundred hockey fans....99-percent will tell you that they don’t care about any extra info on the referee crowd, other than they are qualified. They don’t care if the guy is married, a Republican, into distilling bourbon, lives in Montana, or has six daughters with ‘Wanda’ as the first name.
I can remember through the early 1970s...most baseball announcers never discussed even the names of umpires other than at the all-star games or World Series.
This idea that more personal info on their habits or lusty affairs will influence me? No. It won’t work.
My NHL referees will always be guys like Wally Harris, Bruce Hood (RIP), Ron Wicks (also RIP), Kerry Fraser, Bill McCreary, Don Koharski, Andy van Hellemond, Gord Broseker, John D’Amico (RIP), Terry Gregson, and others from that time in the 1970s and 1980s. The silly helmets and shields, although a fact of life in today’s game, greatly took away the personality and identification of the officials as well as the players. Therefore, I can’t see why this guy wants to make headlines concerning his personal life.
If he knows what goalie interference actually looks like (since the current crop of referees and the NHL do not!) then no problem. What does his fagness have to do with anything? Will he be wearing pink stripes instead of black ones? Most people really really don’t care about his fagness. Only HE thinks we care about it. Pure narcissist at work!

Why would anyone care about the sex life of a hockey referee? How does this even matter?
The use of that term gives the whole thing away. Can anyone name a single hockey player who is "openly heterosexual?" Probably not -- because normal people in hockey don't wear their sexuality on their sleeves.
A hockey referee who presents himself as "openly gay" isn't a professional hockey referee at all. He's a professional homosexual who happens to be a hockey referee.

There are hundreds of straight men who try to be NHL referees and don’t make it. Nobody (I hope) knows this person’s sexual identity unless he TELLS them.
But hockey players will needle opponents as well as referees and if he’s expecting to be treated differently because of his self-declared proclivities, he won’t last long.
Why can’t these idiots keep their personal sex lives to themselves?!
