Russian lawyer questions why Mueller hasn't contacted her

A Russian lawyer who discussed sanctions with Donald Trump Jr. in New York during his father's 2016 campaign for the U.S. presidency said Sunday that special counsel Robert Mueller has not contacted her yet.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Natalia Veselnitskaya also detailed her recent meeting in Berlin with investigators from the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee. Like Mueller, the committee is investigating allegations of Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election.

Misleading. THe appointment letter give Mueller authority to investigate any matters arising directly from the investigation, and to prosecute and federal criminal acts according to his judgment.

Mueller has interpreted this so widely as to investigate Manafort and Gates for totally unrelated activity that occurred years before the 2016 campaign, yet he does not lift a finger to determine whether FusionGPS and associates were involved in a variety of dishonest acts, quite possibly criminal, to launch and steer the whole “Muh Russia” story.

The information from the dossier came from the Russians, so if you are investigating Russian influence in our elections wouldn’t you go down that rabbit hole as well to see where Steele got his info from and whether or not he was truly investigating or was a mule, or at worse a co conspirator.

YES, to do a minimally competent investigation you would have to try to get at the origins of all of the allegations and info in the “dossier” as well as the physical creation and various transmissions of the dossier document itself.

Otherwise, you have not idea whether your whole investigation has been “played” and manipulated by some person(s) in the background.

If one reads the article one can quickly deduce the Russian lawyer was part of the conspiracy (AKA insurance policy) to prevent President Trump from holding office. For example:

They are so busted that they have a Russian lawyer complaining the Special Counsel is not really investigating President Trump because they know she herself was part of the Clinton conspiracy; hence she does this from Berlin (Merkel country; there is a reason there is distance between President Trump and certain EU countries that favored Clinton; how much did they favor her? what INTEL favors did they do on her behalf?).

A normal criminal investigation involves a crime and the investigators are looking for a criminal. Mueller has no crime yet he is looking for a criminal.

One cannot "quickly deduce" that at all. That is shallow and sloppy thinking. Yes, her claim that Simpson has been "framed" is a curious one, but it needs to be examined thoroughly, not ignored. Of course it is much more likely that Glenn Simpson is an active leading member of the conspiracy, but that does NOT mean he cannot also be a "fall guy" for others. It is important to know what her basis is for saying Simpson has been framed and see if she has any useful info to offer. I don't assume that she does (she may just be a cut-out for others) but it is foolish to assume that she does NOT have any useful info about these matters.

As for her role, she seems to be more of a loose cannon, not some close conscious member of a conspiracy. She has been used by others, but the questions are HOW has she been used, what did she really know before, during, and after her interactions with ppl at Trump Tower and at FusionGPS. You and Mueller seem to assume you know all there is to know. I don't assume that at all, for myself. I want this woman interrogated and investigated very closely. Yet, she may prove to be much more helpful to Trump's situation than you imagine.

If she were a conscious part of the anti-Trump conspiracy she would not be giving this kind of interview or testimony at all. She would be trying to bury Trump & co., not indicating (as she has done) that her role had nothing to do with the Russian govt or FSB, etc. If she were any willing or conscious part of such a conspiracy she would have been far more damaging, in far more detail, than appears to be the case. She is an odd aspect of this saga, and her role , influences, and activities need to be fleshed out more thoroughly.

You indicate why she does not want to come into the USA now. That does not explain AT ALL why Mueller has ignored her.

In fact, to the extent that she may have any criminal jeopardy in the USA, that makes my point even more strongly that Mueller & co. are irresponsible and incompetent at best.... or they are actively avoiding certain lines of investigation.

What I don't know yet is how deep the Russians delved in the Clinton/Obama conspiracy. One could see their calculus; they all assumed Hillary would be the next President.

I’m not convinced she is hugely knowledgeable, she seems more like a patsy so far, BUT I certainly think every effort should have been made to try to find out what she does know.

That does not explain AT ALL why Mueller has ignored her.

Mueller, et al., already know. Her only purpose would be an arrest, conviction, and flipping on Russians and Democrats; she is going no further than Merkel Land. What remains a mystery is how many NATO members' INTEL agencies participated in the insurance policy. The Brits are a given.

If she were playing the role you claim, why would she be totally trashing the reliability of the "dossier"? Her assertion goes strongly AGAINST the conspiracy to take down Trump.

She seems rather quirky and unreliable for a Russian intel agent. Unless she has been ordered to discredit herself, it seems more likely that she is playing a game of her own, as she has indicated. The FSB is not known for being this oddball. Not ALL Russians are agents. Perhaps she is doing some kind of role playing for others, but in any case we should try to know a lot more about her role.
