A tragic scene unfolded in Antioch, Tennessee early Sunday morning as a naked gunman opened fire in a Waffle House. The attack killed three.
Police say that Travis Reinking, of Morton, Illinois, is the person of interest in the shooting. The 29 year old man is still on the run.
According to the Tennessean, “Police said a gunman opened fire at about 3:25 a.m. at the Waffle House at 3571 Murfreesboro Pike, which is just south of Mt. View Road.
Police said the vehicle the gunman arrived in is registered to Reinking. They said the gunman was reportedly last seen walking south on Murfreesboro Pike, had shed his coat and was nude.
Anyone who has seen Reinking is asked to call Metro police immediately at 615-862-8600.”
The 911 call at 3:25 AM garnered massive police presence. More than 30 police officers arrived at the scene but the alleged suspect had already ran off by then.

According to ABC News, Waffle House officially released the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident," Waffle House said later in a statement. "Right now, our first thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we will be there for them in this most difficult time. We are still gathering the details, and so we do not have much information to share ... This is a very sad day for the Waffle House family.

In other articles it was described as an assault rifle --as it likely would be, and I don't need a pedantic debate over "what defines an assault rifle?" I don't give a shit and neither do the soccer moms who will soon cheerfully vote to ban them.

Well, let’s see. Naked means meth and meth means white people. So the perp is the right color for this to go national. But the victims were Tennesseans eating at a Waffle House. In other words, poor white trash who the left has zero sympathy for. I conclude that this story will make a blip on the media radar screen and then quickly disappear. The exception would be if the victims turned out to be Nashville area hipsters — like Vanderbilt students or something — eating there ironically, in which case the media might devote more attention.

Fact is, in a nation of 300 million plus, we are going to have our share of whack jobs. Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes people just go nuts and do bad things.
My Dad was an architect who worked for the state and he was in charge of the remodeling and creation of additions to the state prisons and mental hospitals. He always told me he felt safer when he was visiting the prisons than when he had to visit the mental hospitals and he said he actually had more security escorts at the hospitals.
Morton is a nice, very modest, heavily Christian community, outside of Peoria.
