President Trump’s private lawyer Michael Cohen has dropped libel suits against BuzzFeed and research firm Fusion GPS over the publication of a controversial dossier that claims the president has connections to Russia.
Cohen, who has been under criminal investigation by the feds for months and whose office and home were raided by FBI agents last week, abandoned the lawsuits late Wednesday.

My guess is they will get POTUS before he arrests anyone. He is getting bad advice from someone.
Cohen comes off as a tough guy, but he’s only a drip under pressure.
They are probably threatening his family somehow.
This avoids discovery, which would be used to gather more opposition research on Trump.
In the case of Buzzfeed, Cohen not only had to prove that he’d never been to Prague but that Buzzfeed KNEW HE HAD NEVER BEEN TO PRAGUE and acted maliciously in publishing the falsehood. The bar for actual malice is so high that he probably couldn’t win anyway. Now, Fusion GPS, which compiled the dossier? Yeah, I don’t see why Cohen would let them off the hook unless he didn’t want to be deposed and have to talk about whether or not he’d been to Prague. That’s REALLY problematic.
Because, unlike Mueller, regular citizens need some sort of 360 degree proof....
President Trump, and anyone associated with President Trump, will NOT win any case in any US kangaroo court.
The judicial branch is, like the MSM, a bought and paid for wholly owned subsidiary of socialist-democrat party.
Lawfare will devolve to warfare if they keep this up.

But don't be surprised if Cohen re-files the suit at some point. It may be AFTER the IG report comes out.

Fusion GPS is going down anyways. Once Michael is clear of this Witch Hunt, he can refile against Fusion and BuzzFeed, both will be crawling over glass to settle with him.

If he is dropping the libel suit, it implies that the accusations were true and now NY has the evidence.
I understand why you would say that, but it’s not necessarily true. Everything in the reports could be false and Cohen could still lose his libel claim.
New York has a one-year statute of limitations on libel claims. If it's not already too late for him to re-file, it will be very soon.
I think it's simply a matter of him now knowing that he's under criminal investigation. If he keeps the civil cases going, he will have to give testimony under oath; his criminal lawyer probably advised him to avoid any discovery until the criminal case is over.
