The Alabama Crimson Tide paid a visit to the White House the other day and it turned out to be one of those uniquely American moments.
For the record I happen to be a Tennessee Volunteer fan but what the Crimson Tide did at the White House transcends football rivalries even Southeastern Conference football rivalries.
Coach Nick Saban gladly accepted President Trumps invitation and said the entire national championship team would attend regardless of political proclivities.
Coach Saban addressed it and just said, Hey, were doing this regardless of your political thoughts, offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher told the Crimson White. Were going, just to celebrate this team. Its an honor. And just to be able to say that youve gone to the White House is something that you can cherish forever. So that was basically the extent of that.
And thats exactly what happened. The team captains presented President Trump with a jersey (No. 17) that had his name printed on the back.
Its an incredible honor for us to be invited to the White House, running back Damien Harris told the Washington Post. Its something that comes with being national champions, so were definitely thankful for the opportunity.
It was an all-around class act a reminder of a time when football was about the sportsmanship and not making a political statement.
But something else happened during that ceremony something that has blessed hearts around the nation.
On the flight to Washington, D.C., punter J.K. Scott was listening to a worship song when he felt compelled to pray for President Trump.
God loves President Trump, the 22-year-old punter said Wednesday on the Todd Starnes Radio Show. The Lord laid on my heart to pray for him.
And thats exactly what J.K. did.

Thank them for that.
Team to be suspended for possibly hurting the self esteem of some snowflake who witnessed the deed.
Amazingly, to this day, this kid (the hero of the game) has never started a football game for Alabama.
Hat tip to Saban for addressing it this way.
God Bless those players who prayed with Trump as well.
He needs our prayers! We at FR should all be doing the same, now more than ever.
Saban doesn’t put up with that $hit. He apparently threatened any team members wanting to boycott the visit.
Definite role models for the youth of America. They did their parents proud.
<3 Wonderful. God bless them. My patriotism just went up a notch. Thank you.
#17........ Alabama’s 17th National Title
Ro Tide!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. God Bless this team and God Bless President Trump..he and his family are good people who have been treated like utter crap for just wanting to help this country..and for that they have gotten non stop death threats and the Commie media calling for their slaughter.
Ditto. And Trump needs those prayers. Must have meant a lot to him...
Agree. Trump needs our prayers.
I pray for him too.
We all should daily plead with God in Jesus’ Name to give the President wisdom, courage, and protection from enemies.
Very proud of my beloved football team. Roll Tide, y’all.
Roll Tide Roll!
