Republican strategist Steve Schmidt tore into Donald Trump while appearing on MSNBC today — calling the president an “imbecile” for his trade wars and adding that he has “no idea what he’s talking about.”
As news circulated this morning that the stock market dropped dramatically after China responded to Trump’s tariffs with trade restrictions of their own, the president denied that there is a “trade war” happening, despite all evidence pointing to the opposite being true.
Schmidt noted this while discussing the issue with a fired-up Stephanie Ruhle this morning:

Partly right....He ran Mitts campaign in 2008 then switched over to McCain’s campaign where he teamed with Nicole Wallace to undermine Palin and throw McCain under the bus! His objective was to clear the way for Mitt in 2012. Worked that far. but Mitt is unelectable on a National ticket in the US.
Schmidt action’s in 2008 is one of the reasons that I always point to Mitt and claim anything connected to him is a skunk.
What trade war? All I’ve seen so far is some lively negotiations.....
And why does anyone pay any attention to Steve “Failure is his middle name” Schmidt?
