Police officers responding to reports of a man threatening people with a gun on Wednesday fatally shot a man carrying a metal pipe, mistaking it for a firearm, police said.
It happened just before 5 p.m. in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn after three 911 callers said a "man was pointing a silver firearm at people on the street," according to NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan.

In that case perhaps we should not allow the police out after dark?
It hangs out on my front porch, I don’t need it to walk or anything, just thought it would be neat to have, just in case.
That would definitely leave a mark.
Witnesses claim police gave no warning before firing multiple shots.
They didnt say freeze, hands up, drop your gun, none of that, Jaccpot Hinds said. They didnt say nothing. All they did was start shooting.
Yup, schedule 160.
They just wanted to go home to their families.

Wait a minute! ...Isn’t that the description of the shots that killed the West Coast guy in his grandmother’s backyard when trying to evade the police. Happened about a week ago, at night and has resulted in protests. Some coincidence.
The supreme court ruled that they don't have a duty to protect. And why would you rely on them? It has turned into us vs them.
Yes. I’ve read that.
I’m glad I live in the Big Nothing.
More accurate details:
“Five officers three of them in street clothes, and two in uniforms were responding to three 911 calls about a man threatening people with a silver gun near the corner of Montgomery Street and Utica Avenue in Crown Heights, Terence A. Monahan, the chief of department, said at a news conference. A law enforcement official who listened to one of the calls said a woman was frantically reporting that a man was pointing a gun at people.
“The police found a man who matched descriptions from the 911 callers, Chief Monahan said.
The suspect then took a two-handed shooting stance and pointed an object at the approaching officers, Chief Monahan said.

Possibly true.
