Gowdy: Trump should let Mueller interview him
The Hill ^ | April 4, 2018 | John Bowden

Posted on 04/04/2018 7:48:47 AM PDT by Pinkbell

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy (R) urged President Trump to interview with special counsel Robert Mueller in order to help wrap up the Russia probe on Wednesday, arguing the president is "uniquely" qualified to answer many of Mueller's questions.

In an interview with CNN, the chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee argued that speaking with Mueller is not "risky" for Trump if he has nothing to hide.

"Only he knows what he knows. So I would tell you, if you did not rob a bank there is no reason for you not to sit down and talk with the FBI about the bank robbery," Gowdy said.

"If you have nothing to hide, sit down. Assuming a fair prosecutor, and I think Mueller is, sit down and tell him what you know," Gowdy added. "I think he is uniquely well-positioned to answer some of the questions that not just the special counsel but the American people have."

Gowdy's remarks come after a Washington Post report Tuesday night revealed that Trump was not the "target" of Mueller's investigation but rather the "subject," a distinction that Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, said is "meaningless" to him but means a great deal more to the FBI.

"I don't think those terms, target versus subject...the only word that matters to me in the criminal justice system is defendant," Gowdy said. "So if you're not the defendant, whether you're the target or the subject, I know the FBI gets really caught up in those two words, [but] as a former federal prosecutor they're meaningless to me."

If Trump consents to an interview with Mueller, then he will more naïve than anyone thought possible.

Gowdy is a piece of shit. BFF of Lindsey Graham and 100% phony/traitor whose Elmer Gantry routine just made his Deep State treachery more infuriating.

Something changed with Gowdy and he became a different Congress Critter.

Don't know what happened but he is not what he used to be.

Absolutely not. Mueller is a conniving liar and a Democrat, but I repeat myself.

Gowdy: Trump should let Mueller interview him>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Spoken like a true prosecutor.

President Trump has NO obligati0on to speak with Mueller. And its very skewed politics to conclude he should.

The fact is that what is being organized here is a perjury trap for President Trump, specifically so that the Democrat Party can seize seats in the mid - terms.

Why should the agenda of PDJT be side tracked by something like an impeachment trial for perjury? This is an attempt to deny the will of the People who duly elected the President.

People like Mueller and Gowdy should be frog marched to the nearest patriot re-education center. But ooops! I forgot we do not live in Russia or China!

President Trump should deny Mueller his moment of “glory” because Mueller wants to force a Constitutional crisis for nothing more than a liberal fascist political agenda. The only Russia ‘collusion “ there was involved Obama and Hillery Clinton. ( There is no such crime as collusion by the way, Rosenstein made up a c rime to save Hillary Clinton, in case the investigation turns to her. There is no crime of collusiuon for which anyone can be prosecuted, it does not exist in statute or case law.)

Its time for Mueller, Rosenstein and others at DOJ to be fired. The Obama holdovers at DOJ must be purged so that PDJT can go about the governance of our nation unimpeded.

And those who have been weaponized by the magic negro at DOJ, FBI, IRS, and the CIA need to be fired or assassinated , as would be done if we indeed lived in Russia.

As to Gowdy, he is a short timer. He is not running for Congress again and is licking a few asses so he can be appointed as a federal prosecutor in North Carolina or appointed as a federal judge.

Gowdy should watch his mouth lest he fall into it and swallow himself.

"Just SHUT UP already Gowdy"

_______________

Gowdy just may be trying to get Trump to take the bait so that if things go bad for Trump, The Roosterhead can step away from his quiet work back home and go play again with the CRIMINAL LEAGUE in D.C. .......

Louis Gohmert, on of the good guys, was interviewed by a Rush sub about 2 weeks ago. The host asked him about Trey’s sudden change and Louis said that something is up with him...interesting.

I’ve been on Gowdy’s case since the Benghazi hearings. While it provided red meat for the conservative peanut gallery, it became clear quickly that it was going nowhere.

Gowdy is a GOP Inc self-promoter. He makes sure he gets his 10-second video clip sounding forceful and righteous, but it never goes anywhere.

Gowdy is a busted hand.

No lawyer would ever recommend this.

This is a trap.

Gowdy has been all smoke and no fire for a long time.

Gowdy knows full well that Trump would never act on the advice of anyone other than his own lawyers. He also knows full well this is bad advice.

So why is he saying it, and why so publicly? Obviously, this so-called advice for Trump is not really meant for Trump’s ears, or he would have found a way to offer it privately.

There must be some reason Gowdy wants to be on record saying this.

If I had to guess at a motive, I’d rule out the theory that he’s anti-Trump and he’s trying to coax him into a trap - as I already said, there’s no way Gowdy thinks this advice would influence Trump. If he really wanted that outcome, he’d be talking to Trump’s lawyers off the record and his message would be a lot more subtle.

I’d also rule out the theory that somebody has something on him and has turned him against Trump - for the same reason. He knows Trump would never take his advice - he’d just be wasting his breath.

That leaves two theories I can’t rule out:

First, that he thinks Trump is going down and wants to publicly distance himself from the political fallout by going on record as supporting Mueller, that way he can say “See, I told you so”.

Second, that he thinks Trump is about to be cleared by Mueller, and wants to reinforce Mueller’s conclusion, and vindicate the investigative process (that Gowdy feels he was part of) - so as to say “See, the justice system works”.

I am leaning toward the latter, because I think Gowdy has an ego and would want to be able to say “See, the system (that I was part of) worked”.

One part of Gowdy’s statement that seemed odd to me was where he said that there are things only Trump knows, and that Trump is uniquely equipped to answer certain questions.

Think about that - if only Trump can provide the answers, that means they don’t have anything on him.

I get the feeling Trump is in the clear and some people in the inner circle (maybe including Trey Gowdy) already know what the conclusion of the investigation is - that it’s no longer about Trump, but for some reason they are still investigating.... but who?

“First, that he thinks Trump is going down and wants to publicly distance himself from the political fallout by going on record as supporting Mueller”

That’s the most likely. Gowdy is definitely batting for the corrupt state. He’s a POS and doesn’t want to be on the tar and feathering list.

Gowdy doesn’t know that the US Legal system is set up as an adversarial struggle?
