Gowdy: Trump should let Mueller interview him
The Hill ^ | April 4, 2018 | John Bowden

Posted on 04/04/2018 7:48:47 AM PDT by Pinkbell

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy (R) urged President Trump to interview with special counsel Robert Mueller in order to help wrap up the Russia probe on Wednesday, arguing the president is "uniquely" qualified to answer many of Mueller's questions.

In an interview with CNN, the chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee argued that speaking with Mueller is not "risky" for Trump if he has nothing to hide.

"Only he knows what he knows. So I would tell you, if you did not rob a bank there is no reason for you not to sit down and talk with the FBI about the bank robbery," Gowdy said.

"If you have nothing to hide, sit down. Assuming a fair prosecutor, and I think Mueller is, sit down and tell him what you know," Gowdy added. "I think he is uniquely well-positioned to answer some of the questions that not just the special counsel but the American people have."

Gowdy's remarks come after a Washington Post report Tuesday night revealed that Trump was not the "target" of Mueller's investigation but rather the "subject," a distinction that Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, said is "meaningless" to him but means a great deal more to the FBI.

"I don't think those terms, target versus subject...the only word that matters to me in the criminal justice system is defendant," Gowdy said. "So if you're not the defendant, whether you're the target or the subject, I know the FBI gets really caught up in those two words, [but] as a former federal prosecutor they're meaningless to me."

Best reason for President Trump not to meet with Mueller - Gowdy says he should do it.

I agree Mueller should interview Gowdy. And may I add, the republicans are the filthiest like of worthless scumbag imaginable, second (maybe) only to democrats.

“If you have nothing to hide, sit down. Assuming a fair prosecutor, and I think Mueller is, sit down and tell him what you know,” Gowdy added.

Why assume a fair prosecutor when we know Mueller has no actual crime to investigate and so he’s just trying to gin up process crimes? Gowdy is delusional on this one.

“Fair prosecutor” is an oxymoron.

‘Gowdy apparently downed his dose of Kool-Aid today.’

I can’t prove it, but my sense is that Gowdy hates Trump. He’s trying to set him up while concomitantly trying to look supportive.

And then we can’t figure out why African Americans don’t trust the police and the justice system, yet we deeply understand the highest figure of the US not having that trust.

You’re done Trey. You showed promise, but it was a flash in the pan. I hope you go to some nice cushy $1mil + salary where all the politicians seem to retire into. But I’ll never vote for him for another office. He gets an incomplete for his grade.

I think Gowdy may be aiming for a Senate seat.

Gowdy's reasoning is painfully intellectually facile......he never sees the implication of his words and actions as when he gave Hillary a pass for her Benghazi testimony.

====================================

WE know how desperate Democrats are to “get Trump.” But the gambit related below goes beyond mere desperation. They just make it up as they go along.

PONDER THIS

AFTER THE FACT Rosenstein memos Mueller with a more specific "description" of his authority:

The memo specifically states that Mueller has the authority to investigate Paul Manafort
“for any crimes arising out of payments he received from the Ukrainian govt before and during President Viktor Yanukovych’s tenure.”

And I'll be dammed---- that’s pretty much what Mueller indicted Manafort for.

<><> Even though Manafort’s activities preceded, and had nothing whatsoever to do with, Trump’s campaign.

<><> Rosenstein wrote the memo six days AFTER Mueller ordered the armed raid of Manafort’s house in the dead of night.

Not hard to concluded all these vultures are waiting in the wings for Trump to "sit down" with Mueller.......memo pads at the ready.

No way should he sit down with Mueller. It can only provide an entrapment scenario.
These people are no good!

It is all about preventing US (US citizens) from keeping our country.
The Bush League Republicans have been preventing US from electing anyone who would side with US and the rule of law for decades.
They want the final amnesty that will seal the fate of this great Republic and turn it into North Mexico.
Their hatred of Trump is really an extension of their hatred for US.

If so, then every answer should be, “I cannot recall. What do your notes say?”.

Gowdy is either an idiot, a rat, a hack, or angling for a job somewhere. Could be more than one.

He should do it and every answer should be, “You know that is under investigation and therefore I can’t answer that.”

It’s all about the Bush Plan for North Mexico.
They just need one more amnesty.
Gowdy, like all the rest of SC’s Congressional delegation, is a Cheap Labor Express stooge.
The undocumented Democrats in R jerseys are crafty in their misrepresentation.
