Schumer said, Its a funny thing. In a certain sense, were able to accomplish more in the minority than we were when we had the presidency or even were in the majority.
The Senate Minority Leader continued, At the end of the day, as the minority party, we feel good about being able to succeed in so many ways. We dont have the House, we dont have the Senate, we dont have the presidency, but we produced a darn good bill for the priorities we have believed in.
Sen. Schumer also touted the inclusion of the Gateway bridge project in the omnibus, as well as increased funding for the National Institute of Health (NIH).
House Freedom Caucus chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) lamented in an interview with Breitbart News Daily on Tuesday that the Senate Democrats seem to be calling most of the shots.

We might as well just et the Democrats have the majority in 2018. Republicans are just like them...maybe even worse.
The truly maddening thing, at least to me is, if the roles were reversed, the Republicans wouldn’t have gotten anything, but several of them would have voted with Dems to allow the bill to go to the floor for a party line vote.
There’s gotta be an ulterior motive to why Trump signed this. Everything with Trump is tactical.
C’mon 4D Chess...

You read the same thread I did.
Maybe Trump should send a really strong letter to Congress. That should put the fear of ___ in them.
Screwing conservatives while giving liberals (i.e the Dems and the Pubbies) what they insist upon may not go over well the next election.
Yep. It's sort of like buying a lottery ticket. We all do it every now and then, even though we know we'll never win.
Tell me, how many Americans have been killed by the Chinese in the last 10 years, then tell me how many of us have been killed by illegal invaders from Mexico? What will make us safer, 10 more ships or the wall and border security that we were promised and need so badly?
We are at war with Mexico and you don’t even know it.
In all seriousness, what would have happened had he vetoed the bill???
Any legal eagles with political saltiness have any guesses?
It’s silly to give up on voting.
I’m as frustrated as every other FReeper over this spending bill, but until such time that we put more conservatives into office, especially in the venal, fossilized senate, we have no choice but to accept what we get.
You can throw up your hands in surrender, walk away from the voting booth, and hand the country over to the left, OR you can fight it to the best of your ability to include voting for the most conservative leaders who can win elections. We will probably lose either way, but heck, isn’t America worth fighting for?
I know things look bleak now, but we were once the land of the free and home of the brave. That’s worth trying to preserve.
Voting is a joke. I am totally through kidding myself. You go right ahead and vote for some lying bastard. Have at it.
That’s crazy talk, FRiend. Do you really think things were better under Obama and a Democrat-held congress??? Really???
I understand. It’s your choice to give up. I’m writing against that, however, because I think it’s a very foolish reaction. A more appropriate reaction is to get so pissed off that you work to throw the bums out. You cannot throw them out if you don’t vote, and even if we can only pick off a few of the bastards, wouldn’t it be great to see them tossed out of office?
I’ve said it many, many times over the years. The RINOs have no reason to fear us, because they can spit in our faces and still win elections. The ONLY way to move this government to the right is to win elections. Otherwise, we are just going to keep getting more McCains. You can’t elect a decent president and expect them to change everything by themselves. They need allies!
An apt comparison.....sadly.
“I will never vote again.”
You sound like a baby. You must be one of those people from the south who get mad and don’t vote to “prove a point”.
Even if you NEVER VOTE AGAIN, odds are that somebody will sign in as you and vote.
...”We are at war with Mexico and you dont even know it.”
Wouldn’t we need to fight back, in order to have a war?
A sop to the NY area trades unions.
