Giddy Up – DOJ Admits They Have a Grand Jury Empaneled in FBI and DOJ Investigation…
Conservative Treehouse ^

Posted on 03/22/2018 7:43:47 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Today chairman Bob Goodlatte sends a formal subpoena to the DOJ (Inspector General Michael Horowitz) for documents regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server, potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility recommendation to fire former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

However, it’s not the subpoena that should make the news. Pay close attention to the DOJ response:

Chad Pergram @ChadPergram

DoJ on Hse Judiciary Cmte's subpoenas: We are individually reviewing the remaining documents to ensure that they do not include grand jury information, information about ongoing law enforcement actions involving American citizens, or privileged attorney-client communications.

Oh, what’s that? Yes, the DOJ has to review the demand for evidence because release of those documents might conflict with ongoing Grand Jury information (evidence). Yes, that means a Grand Jury is impaneled, exactly as we expected.

Yes, that also means there are “law enforcement actions” currently ongoing as a result of the prosecutor assigned to reviewing the evidence discovered by Inspector General Horowitz.

Are there still those who doubt?

AG’s office confirms this is NOT the IG but a separate ‘senior Federal prosecutor’ outside DC.

If this “outside” prosecutor has empanelled a grand jury and obtained a grand jury indictment, no one can prevent the case from going forward.

Who really cares about Congressional investigations? It can’t indict, it’s arrest powers are limited to contempt charges, and never used anyway, and the source of a big yawn from JQP anyway.

A grand jury is another matter entirely.

If things are happening, it should be slowly. If the DOJ lawyers are going to prosecute Hilary, Comey, et al, they had better make their case bulletproof. Every single detail has to be verified, corroborated, and carefully, methodically laid out.

The trial attorneys must always keep the appellate court in mind. No “I” can go undotted, There can be nothing that could get the convictions overturned on appeal.

I agree. A sloppy investigation will yield sloppy results.

We’d have to know first whether or not this is just standard language the DOJ uses in such letters, i.e., it may be boilerplate caveats and not something crafted for this specific case. I don’t know but I would not be surprised if these are simply standard phrases.

Yeah, that’s what I suspected, it’s probably just legal boilerplate indicating legal reasons documents COULD be withheld.

I like the ring of that...a grand jury. hehehe .

No, the congressional investigators can not indict but let's not forget that the Bengazi investigation was instrumental in discovering/exposing Killery's illicit e-mail server. They are worthwhile and they do serve a purpose as well as the legitimate function of congressional oversight.

Sessions only recused himself from the investigation into whether or not there existed colusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. ...That did not prevent him from being active in pursuing other DOJ matters; ...like former DOJ and FBI involvement in the Clinton felonies!

Well said. It describes what is about to happen under Stealth Sessions. Screws have been turning and the polish has been put on the paint job. The IG report will turn the key.

I am somewhat conflicted. On the one hand it is good to hear about what’s going on in the backfield, but to the extent it can be keep under cover, it will be less subject to sabotage by the enemy. That is why criticizing Sessions for not doing anything creates a marvelous foil for Sessions’ undercover prosecutor(s). What I like so much about current events is that Joe diGenova and his wife are now inside the tent and they will be lending their considerable skills and insight to the mix.

“Trump is gearing up for the fight with Mueller and the release of IG report, April / early May.”

IG report was probably done in January. They are just sitting on it to see how things develope so they can massage as necessary.

Oh you must forget to tell him that.
Read the transcripts of his congressional hearings, useless Sessions has told he recused himself from any Clinton matters.
