The Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot an Australian woman in July was charged with murder Tuesday after he turned himself in when a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Officer Mohamed Noor turned himself in on Tuesday in connection to the 2017 death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond. his attorney confirmed.
Jail records show he has been booked on charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

The DA did it differently this time. In past shootings he made the decision. This tile he let a grand jury decide which gives him cover politically. He must have known the guy will be convicted.

I think this is less of a race issue and more of a protected class issue.

She is white (Australia). He is black (Somalia).
He's also been charged with second degree manslaughter. According to Minnesota sentencing, the maximum sentence for second degree manslaughter is 10 years. Generally, someone in Minnesota without a prior criminal record would serve four years. I don't think he's got a prior record as a civilian. I hate the thought of them offering him a plea deal, and like you, I'm skeptical that he'll ever go to trial. The a-hole has refused to be interviewed by law enforcement officials since the murder. That should count against him if he goes to trial, and in his sentencing. Not sure if he can legally be charged for not cooperating. I'm afraid the DA's office will drop the 3rd degree murder charges, and settle for the manslaughter charge...and that he'll only get 4 years. He's being held on $500,000 bail. If he coughs up that money, and gets released, I hope they've made him relinquish his passport.

Yes, I omitted that for brevity . also the call was to a domestic disturbance, allegedly a man beating a woman. I’ve always wondered whether the domestic disturbance involved Muslims.

So when are they going to take away his badge? Then, even if he gets let off someone can off him as a civilian & not be charged with killing a police officer. A .22 rifle with a “can” aimed at Noor’s temple should do the trick.
And why has it taken nearly a year to get just this far? Why didn’t his supervisor order him to cooperate & bust him for insubordination when he didn’t?
