Facebook is holding an open meeting for all employees following allegations that data belonging to its users was harvested by Cambridge Analytica.
The company's chief executive and founder Mark Zuckerberg has not commented on the scandal nor made a public appearance since the story broke.
Mr Zuckerberg will not be present to lead Tuesday's meeting, which instead will be chaired by Facebook's deputy general counsel, Paul Grewal.
Cambridge Analytica is accused of illegally harvesting the personal data of 50 million Facebook users.
The crisis meeting follows a stock fall which wiped $37bn (£26bn) off its value as investigations are launched by the UK's Information Commissioner as well as European authorities.
According to an internal calendar invitation seen by technology publication The Verge, the meeting is scheduled for 10am Pacific Time (5pm UK time) today.
The Information Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham, has sought an urgent court warrant to search the premises of Cambridge Analytica in London for evidence of any breaches of the Data Protection Act.
Ms Denham is pursuing evidence as part of her look at the company's use of data analytics for political purposes and has filed for the warrant after Cambridge Analytica failed to respond to a deadline for access to its records.
It follows news that Facebook's staff were themselves attending Cambridge Analytica's offices on Monday night, which Ms Denham demanded they cease, stating that the social media company's search "would potentially compromise a regulatory investigation".

Hmmm... That may explain why I get requests to join my local history group from people who have never set foot in North America, let alone the county in which I live. The group is "open" but requires approval to join.
I guess some of the spammers are screwing with the algorithm by checking out and joining FB "approved" groups like ours.
I have always said that anyone that has a social footprint on Facebook, twitter, or any other easily accessed social media site is an ego centered fool or a bot.
Yeah, that is the problem...’wonder-kid’ probably will talk for months or years about the next big trend, but I would speculate that that one brief moment where he took the idea from the Winklevoss twins....as the only idea chance he had in his lifetime.
You would wonder if the Winklevoss twins had just wrote some contract up and hired Zuckerberg as a team member....would the whole thing have gone in a different direction.
I don’t see him being head of the company at the conclusion of 2018. They need a business-thinker and that’s simply not Zuckerberg.
I am on Fakebook mainly because it let’s me copy photos of my grandchildren. It’s also allowed me to reconnect with cousins.
Regarding the user profile, I had never really completed mine. A few years ago, I decided to fill in the occupation part. Tried a few jokes, which got rejected, but they didn’t catch on to my current hoax : Wingwalker at Blue Angels.

I do not join just search get some strange ads on the side which I generally ignore. Something I forgot to mention is I use a vpn and change locations periodically. Really started getting odd ads when mucking about to one day. I was messing with locations on vpn. Next day I got ads from New York Ireland Great Britain with clocks for sale. Took me 3 days to remember I was changing locations while on Facebook. Got a chuckle. So now when I am bored or have few minutes. I change locations every 5 mins
HA...my FB says I live in Russia...I know, I know...they know where I am...but, that and some of my other fake info is a small part of how I use FB...but, honestly, I never see ads, and rarely get come ons from anyone...must be my settings.
