Hillary Clinton is ahead of Donald Trump by double digits with just over three weeks until Election Day, according to a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll conducted entirely after the second presidential debate.
To put Clinton's current 11-point lead into perspective, Barack Obama beat John McCain by seven points nationally in 2008. And Obama's margin of victory over Mitt Romney in 2012 was four points.
"Donald Trump's chances of winning this election have faded," says Democratic pollster Fred Yang of Hart Research Associates, which conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff and his firm Public Opinion Strategies.
"This poll is showing the writing on the wall," Yang adds.
And the Republican McInturff observes that Trump "is in a weaker position than in September," and that his numbers in the poll don't align with anyone who has gone on to win a presidential election.

I'm not saying we should coast - when my team is up by 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter, I want them going for TDs. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
But...weeping and gnashing of teeth off a poll - taken months away from midterms - from the same losers who got it so wrong 3 weeks prior to Trumpageddon is equally unhelpful.
Well, there’s two possible ways that polls can be inaccurate. The special election losses are a good cautionary tale.
That isn’t bad he said Clinton was 20 points ahead in 2016.
We are surrounded by chaotic systems. Sometimes they are less chaotic than others so they appear stable. In the stock market I used to use something called the Lynch formulae to invest. That took a few numbers like dividend yield and growth and if the number came out to less than a certain amount you’d likely make money on the stock. Today, the Lynch formulae no longer works. The conditions that made it work for decades have changed.
Polling is similar. For a very long time, polling worked. Now, it doesn’t. Although I still try to use the Lynch formulae, it doesn’t predict good results one way or the other. The same is now true for polling. Polling now is no better than flipping a coin.
Oh please. This isn’t even worth posting. How embarrassing for CNBC.
I think the House remains about the same +20 R and the Dems lose 5 in the Senate. This will cause gnashing of teeth among the Republicans as they are now forced to confront the reality of winning.
If I were polled, which has never happened in my 68 years on this planet, I would go all out pro scumbag DemoRAT, and chuckle to myself as I walked away. MAGA!
It’s over. The Republicans were IDIOTS for running Trump. Hope you guys are happy now, with Hillary about to be president.
There is an obvious enthusiasm gap, and I can tell you this... if the GOP plans on using the messaging it used in PA 18 for the midterms it will lose the house... no doubt about it.
Will gain seats in the senate just due to the map, but will lose the house.
GOP need to come to grips with 2016, and realize to win, at least outside the deep red districts they need to motivate the non traditonal MAGA voters to show up.
If they think the same old tired R talking points and democrat will be a Pelosi rubber stamp fear mongering will win them the fall they are grossly mistaken.
Need to give folks a reason to vote FOR you not against someone else... and need to give folks who generally have not turned out to vote for you before Trump a reason th feel they need to further engage and vote. PA-18 messaging did neither.
This is how the Dems will fight CW2....
With cell phones and caller id on landlines nobody answers a call from a caller they don’t know. They let the call go to voicemail. Happens to telemarketers and pollsters.
These people never give up with their phony polls. Makes them feel good I suppose.
Is Fred Yang’s middle name Ying?
Every year, liberals are importing or producing more people than the 'right'. It's hard keeping 'civilization' together when both parties have worked together to destroy the USA.
And Cleveland will beat the Cubs 4-1 in the World Series.
They do not anticipate changes.
All of the circumstances of the special election have to looked at.
