Six Bay Area members of Congress have signed onto a letter asking the Department of Homeland Security to scrap a plan to prevent spouses of H-1B visa holders from obtaining work permits.

The department in December announced the plan, citing President Donald Trump’s “Buy American and Hire American” executive order, and said it would carry out the plan this year. The work-permit program for H-1B holders’ spouses was initiated in 2015 under former President Barack Obama.

Once again Democrats selling out the American worker. You knew about H-1B visa workers coming here to displace Americans. Did you know that Obama and his Democrat cohorts allowed the spouses of these H-1B visa holders to also displace American workers? H-1B times 2.

The Democrats are worried that it would:

“create significant uncertainty and financial hardship for many highly skilled professionals who are vital to our economy.”

How about Americans Democrats?

I think they should not allow spouses to work. They shouldn’t even allow them to come to the country.

I did not know. And is H1B pretty much a backdoor way to immigrate after you do your time as an H1B peon - slave worker? How many H1Bs end up staying here for good?

IOW are H1Bs not really temporary workers?

Rat lies. Few H-1Bs are such; only 6% are classified at the highest skill level and are paid more than average for their occupation and location - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3306445/posts?page=7#7

We should compromise by also eliminating H1B visas, thereby removing the entire problem.

H1-B visa is TEMPORARY. People who are admitted on that visa are productive, have a job, and pay all US taxes. In short, they are FAR SUPERIOR to immigrants admitted via chain migration, who immediately become permanent visa holder, immediately become eligible for ALL gov’t welfare benefits. Majority are LOW SKILLs, LOW wealth people. And they outnumber H1-B visa holders by tens of millions.

Plz read my tag line.

So long as he spouses are NOT replacing US citizen workers, I prefer people who work rather than millions of chain migrants who collect welfare.

So six leftist loons from San Fransico of all places are asking the Trump DHS to not roll back an Obama giveaway to foreigners. LMAO, someone should tell them to save the paper they wasted.

H-1B visas should only be allowed as a temporary fix for a lack of qualified American workers. They should be conditioned on having one American trainee for each visa with such visa to last no more than three years, at which time the American trainee shall be hired to replace the H-1B visa holder.

H-1B is not TEMPORARY. H-1B comes in and then brings in spouse with H-4. Both visa workers remain and have children who are American citizens. Anchor babies. Parents stay kids stay and then they bring in grandma and grandpa.

Finally the mask has come off....
The RATS have been the ones demanding H1b and the GOP-e simply went along for the ride.
and 10k HP workers were required to train their replacements.

These are the foreign invaders stealing the white collar jobs and dragging the entire family here.
The IT jobs that Americans can find because these invaders are cheap. Disney , Nissan , Dell , HP , the list of invader employers is long .

I agree 100%. That is essentially what they do in Singapore, where here is a very successful foreign workers program with 2 year work visa’s. 33% of Singapore workers have those temporary work visa’s.

In 1997 a french girl and I was in luv she was a school teacher on a H1B in San Francisco, Bill Clinton went to Silicon Valley and they said Bill, we need Chinese Engineers we don’t need french school teachers.
So they took her visa away, I ended up with a wife a son a daughter a mtg and a dog (in that order) it was a good deal.

And maybe elephant lies too. The GOP is often for anything that makes the bottom line bigger today but who cares about tomorrow.

As with the Dreamers we are learning that nothing in America is temporary. Once here you are here to stay. When was the H-4 visa program ever explained to America? We were told that the H-1B visa holders were vital to the American economy. When we told told that their spouses were also vital to the American economy?
