As high school students staged a national walkout, gun control advocates have called for laws raising the age for gun purchases to 21, but one report shows this would have little if any impact.
The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) released a new report looking into the age distribution of mass public shooters in America, with a particular emphasis on whether raising the age of those purchasing guns would have made any difference in recent mass shootings.
CPRC President John Lott, Jr. concludes that, if the motivation for raising the age limit for gun ownership to 21 is the Parkland massacre, its misplaced.
Lott points to academic research, which he says is completely ignored by gun control advocates.
We are all looking for magic bullets to stop crime, but it creates real problems, Lott told Fox News. It prevents 20-year-old women who were stalked from having guns for protection.
He adds that previous research has shown increases in federal and state minimum age requirements found increases in murder rates and no effect on other crime rates.
His findings also show raising the age wouldnt have prevented the Florida shooting.
Over the last 20 years, 85 percent of the mass public shootings were committed by people over 21 and half of those under 21 were already banned from purchasing guns.
Like gun control advocates and the students walking out of their schools, Lott said he is frustrated by the inability to stop the mass public shootings, but he says their proposed policies wouldnt have stopped any of the attacks.....

Another “feel good” program by the liberal loons.
Not enforcing the laws we already have is what caused the last shooting.
Try that first.
Where do they come up with this crap? Are they going to ban guns to people who wear sneakers next? Yes I believe the shooter wore sneakers, that obviously drove him to shoot people, ban the sneakers.
The libcommies will never listen to Mr. Lott. They consider him one of the enemy. He could testify the sky is blue and the left would lose their minds and call him a liar.
No, it will be the old people. It will be those that they can call senile, or with slower response times. First they are going to do the lower age range and then the higher age range, and then everyone in between.
The purpose is not to prevent crime. The purpose is to advance gun control and eventually confiscate them because we won’t willingly go into the re-education camps.
Not enforcing the laws we already have is what caused the last shooting.
Try that first.

I tried to explain that to a lib this morning and got no where. It was like talking to a chicken with it’s head up it’s butt.
Ann Coulter wrote a great article today on this today.......

What does gun control have to do with stopping shooting rampages. Hmph. His last name is Lott. Probably kin to that arch racist Trent.
Oh so the Las Vegas Shooter was under 21 years old?
and I’m thinking of the young 14+ years of age boys out in rural America, many living on farms, who have rifles for hunting and plinking. Boys taught by their fathers to safely use them, many of whom grow and join the Army or Marines and transfer their shooting skills to more sophisticated fire arms so as to protect this great nation. This age limit for rifle ownership is nonsense.
Besides I don’t understand where the federal government has any jurisdiction in these matters.
Not REPEALING the laws we already have contributed to the last shooting. Schools are "gun-free" murderer protection zones as a result of Federal law.
Wouldn’t it be SO much easier just to make it illegal to shoot someone unless you are 21?
OH...
Wait...
