President Donald Trump has now spent almost one-third of his time in office at his own properties and has played more golf than President Obama over the same period.
The president has visited one of his properties on 112 days of his presidency, according to a count NBC News updated Wednesday in the midst of Trump's 10-day Christmas vacation at Mar-a-Lagohis private club in Palm Beach.
U.S. taxpayers paid $6.6 million in airfare alone this year for Trumps frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago, according to U.S. Air Force records.
Trump also spent part or all of about 40 days at his golf course in Bedminster, N.J., the Wall Street Journal reported.
The White House did not respond to a Newsweek request for comment.
Critics say Trump personally profits off his presidency by staying and holding political events at his properties, which in turn generates attention and free advertising for those businesses. It also allows wealthy club members to access the president and sometimes watch him conduct business with world leaders like Shinzo Abe.
Except for 17 days in August that Trump spent at Bedminster and his Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, the president usually visits his properties on the weekends, according to NBC.
Trump criticized his predecessor for spending time on the links, tweeting in 2014, Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than Carter.
But PolitiFact did the math and discovered that, as of last month, Trump had played golf 35 times while Obama had only played 24 times by the same point of his presidency.
On the campaign trail in 2016, Trump had promised, Im going to be working for you. Im not going to have time to play golf.

RE: So you love the criminal Newsweak and post their bs/trash on Jim Robs site.
Hello Gramps. You’re back to your accusatory tone again.
Why don’t you ask yourself WHY I post his? I’ll tell you why ( and I don’t Care if you believe me or not ) — So that Trump’s defenders can give explanations and refute the article. The defenses you read from those who post here ( including mine ) can be used by his supporters to refute liberals.
You seem to hold the policy that only articles flattering to Trump should be posted in this site. I don’t even think Jim Rob believes in censoring articles unflattering to Trump.
Why should that be? Is our President so frail that he can’t take any hard news against him? I don’t think so.
... and still got more done than Obama did over a comparable time-frame.
RE: How many round of golf did Obama play BEFORE he became President?
The issue is not that — the issue is HOW MUCH OF TAX PAYER MONEY (including security) was spent for his personal pleasure?
I don’t give a whit how much money he spent playing golf as long as it’s not tax payer money.
Funny how that works. I dont think I need to list all of the Presidents accomplishments in just one yearthe roaring economy speaks for itself. And lets not forget the neutering of ISIS in Iraq. Killed the mandate. Oh, you guys already know all of it.
Its truly astonishing. All the more so when you consider the dumpster fire President Trump inherited.
RE: There is little benefit to us in posting biased articles from that sorry enterprise: Newsweek.
I disagree. These pieces of info are being used by liberals against our President. We ought to post this the better to refute them.
And by accident did more in a year than Barry did in 8 years and all of it was to HELP America. So who cares?
I thought Newsweak went under?
Some miniature golf with his sodomy buddies on nights where they told their beard-wives that they were playing Texas Hold-em in somebody’s basement.
ML/NJ
Is basement code for orafice?
Funny how they omit that fact....
That’s good. My dad did all kinds of business on the golf course and at the 19th hole.
He's accomplished more than bammy as well. I'm ok with this.
AND, since golfing was established as not “bad” by the media during the 0bama administration, doing more of it during the Trump administration can’t be bad either - unless the media now admit they covered for 0bama’s “bad” behavior.
“Liberals didnt mind Obama being on the golf course all the time.”
What about the short work week for Congress that seems to occur continually?
Was this written by a snarky 14 yr old?
Whoever bought Newsweek is probably regretting its purchase as the most expensive dollar he ever spent.
Just when I am convinced that the MSM cannot be any more stupid, ignorant, uninformed and fraudulent, they manage to prove me wrong. (V12)
The good news... it seems that finally, I no longer seem to be the only resident of the USA to notice...
Since most normal human beings try to sleep 8 hours aday, there goes one third of "Trump's presidency" right there.
Entirely accurate, but perfectly useless information.
A more useful report comparing Omugabe's and Trump's presidencies as follows; where they stay when away from DC is irrelevant.
How many days away from the White House domestically and foreign for any reason did each spend in their first 15 months?
How many golfing days did each spend, and who covered the total cost of all trips? How many cross country flights did each First Lady take on government aircraft to arrive hours apartapart from Air Force One?
How big was the First Wookie's personal staff, vs Melania's?
Which president hired a family member as a baby sitter at over $100k a year, plus room and board, and who covered the cost?
That's a superficial first pass for me.
Let me just ask about how much the profligate "movin' on up family" cost the US taxpayer the first 15 months.
...unlike Odungo,Trump’s a golfer...Odungo should stick to girls bikes....
