Dick's Sporting Goods on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings that slightly topped analysts' estimates, but revenue and same-store sales fell short.
Its shares were down 4.7 percent in premarket trading following the announcement.
Net income totaled $116 million, or $1.11 a share, for the quarter ended Feb. 3, compared with $90.2 million, or 81 cents per share, a year ago.
Excluding one-time items, the company earned $1.22 a share, 2 cents above analysts' estimates in a Thomson Reuters survey.
Revenue was $2.66 billion, below analysts' expectations for $2.74 billion in sales.

See what Dick did. Don’t be a Dick!
I think walmart also raised there age to buy rifles to.
Their stock price is down because they lost AR-15 and 18-21 guns sales to other companies who still carry and sell them, because they are NOT Dicks!
Dick’s other trick (pun!) was to locate stores near malls. In some cases they were attached to malls but more often they were on outlots.
As we all know, malls are cratering along with any businesses unfortunate enough to be near them.
I guess they just want democrats for customers.
Yes.
This is not about Dick's, but the now-defunct Gander Mountain:
About eight years ago I bought a pistol from Gander and it took about 45 minutes to process the paperwork. About four years ago, at Christmastime, they had a sale on Mosin Nagants and my wife and I went there to get one for our son. It took the employee at Gander almost two hours to complete the paperwork as Gander had instituted their own paperwork that mirrored the federal stuff but had to be done separately. Then I had to wait for a store manager to review all the paperwork. My wife was not happy but she did get to peruse the rest of the store in detail.
We never went back to any Gander and they are now gone.
Businesses who pick a (wrong) side of an issue, suffer the consequences!
Yes, they are.
Several years ago Cabela's made the mistake of going public and about 25% of their stock was bought up by New York investment firms who then started to dictate sales and operations. That was when Cabela's started going downhill.
When things tanked enough Bass Pro made an offer to buy out Cabela's and take them private. They then reassured the loyal customers they would not gut Cabela's and would put them on the correct path back to what they were before and so far it has worked.
I am a big fan of Cabela's, more so than Bass Pro, and am really happy to see changes for the better. When my wife and I are on trips and see Bass Pro stores we almost always stop in and try to get something there as a thank you.
Yeah, WalMart also raised the age as well, but WalMart has been going left for awhile now, and they are pretty insulated because they also sell soap, bananas, motor oil, etc.
Better ammo prices at WalMart.
Virtue signaling is a bad marketing ploy.
Speaking of Gander Mountain, I recently checked out the website for the new “Gander Outdoors” and was surprised that they actually had firearms. Looking closer at the rifles - bolt-action and lever-action only. Pfft.
There is no money in retailing guns. to be competitive you might get a 10%-15% mark up. Most Mom and Pop dealers make their big money on trade ins and estates. Dicks makes their money on clothing. About 50% or more mark up on clothes. They probably couldn’t care less if they sell guns. The gun counter is just to keep hubby happy while the ladies peruse the nike yoga pants.
Ho hum....maybe they need to go to gender fluid bathrooms also....
The company's shares were down nearly 5 percent at $31.
"The announcement we made 2 weeks ago regarding our firearms policy is not going to be positive from a traffic standpoint and a sales standpoint," Chief Executive Officer Edward Stack said on a post-earnings call with analysts.

I can buy what I want at GUNBROKER.COM...or AUCTIONARMS.COM....
Have not bot a gun from a big retailer ever. Haven't stepped into one...in years.
My immediate reaction to the headline: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
There you go. Good find!
Well, I’ll give Mr. Stack this, his virtue signaling is more real than most. This is going to cost him. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Mr. Stack get ousted as CEO as Dick’s starts circling the drain.
Sports authority quit selling guns.
I never went back in.
Dick’s? Time to Dixie Chick Dicks.
I use my spending in places i admire.
Guess that leaves out Dick’s.
