Visa rejected calls to cut ties with semi-automatic rifle manufacturers by announcing it is not their job to [set] restrictions on the sale of lawful goods and services. Their announcement comes after an anti-Second Amendment campaign resulted in over dozen companies cutting ties with the NRA. It also follows a New York Times suggestion that Visa and Mastercard could circumvent Congress and restrict assault weapon sales by refusing business with assault weapon manufacturers and/or dealers.
According to CBS San Francisco, Visa received a petition with 150,000 signatures, asking the credit card company to refuse to process purchases of assault weapons.

Stand up to the democrat/liberal intimidation. Good job and Good bless Visa.

Worth saying three times I guess.
You can say that again. You can say that again. You can say that again.
:-D
Good for Visa. Common sense thinking.
I personally don't care for credit cards as it makes it too easy for folks to get indebted over their heads. To me, a debit card makes more sense. Spends just like a credit card but has a built-in limit.
I have had credit cards for thirty years and never once carried a balance from month to month so never once paid a penny of interest.
If you use a debit card you don’t have the same level of protection against fradulent use.
If you ever have a dispute with a merchant over any item at all, or over any service that was not up to par, you will find that credit cards offer much more consumer protection than debit cards.
Mine too!
My bank switched all their customers from MC to Visa about 18 months ago. I didn’t know what to think - I do now.
True, that. We had a dispute going with Overstock for the last several weeks, sent us the wrong goods but charged us, despite us refusing to take delivery (we intercepted the drop off) when they said they fixed the problem but sent us the wrong goods again, which sat outside for a week waiting for them to have UPS retrieve it. Credit card refunded our money, because we never received the goods we ordered. Doubt a debit card would have gotten our money back. They finally retrieved the wrong item, soggy box sat in the rain outside for a week! Credit cards give you protection.
Big corporation with a backbone... That’s a breath of fresh air.
Always use a credit card for online purchases. If there is any funny business and somebody gets the number, the bank will block its use and reimburse any losses.
Sounds like a CEO who understands business and that politics is bad business. I mean that in regard to alienating their shoppers, not campaign donations. If you don’t spout off about politics, you give a bunch of people no reason to hate you. If you do, there is always a backlash.
Big companies should never get political. They can only lose business.
Any company whose executives want to enforce a political agenda should cut their loses and get rid of the executives making stupid decisions.
It is the job of those people to make money for the company and going anti-gun is only going to cost them cash.
Thank God VISA has some spine
Not quite true in all cases—
My debit card was hacked twice online -
The bank reimbursed me in full in 1 day.
My debit card was hacked at a Walmart POS. The bank contacted Walmart and I was paid the same day.
6 months later ALL the POS terminals at the Walmart here were hacked at the same time right after the chip-in-card came out.
They had to go to cash only for 30 days til they got it fixed. It is easier to hack a POS chip card system , apparently.
“I have had credit cards for thirty years and never once carried a balance from month to month so never once paid a penny of interest.”
You and me too! It’s not a bank, it’s a convenience. Plus you have a record of your purchases and you don’t have to carry a wad of cash around with you.
