GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro City Council members are considering canceling the annual Gun and Knife Show in light of the recent mass shooting at a Florida high school.
Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughn told NBC affiliate WXII that the entire City Council is in support of canceling the show, scheduled for Aug. 25 through Aug. 26 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Vaughn, who describes herself as a gun owner, said the idea came about in response to a conversation she had with her daughter, a high school student, about the Florida shooting that left 17 people dead.
“As a council, we thought about it and I think it’s well thought out,” Vaughn said. We are not saying to the rightful gun store within our city that we want them to stop doing business as they are, but we are saying as a city that we don’t have to do it in our coliseum.

37,000 People die in Motor Vehicle Accidents every year. Unlike Gun related Deaths, 60% of those ARE NOT Suicides.
Time to Cancel Auto Shows, The Velocity Channel and go after The Auto Club.
It would make some uneasy having it be a “government” thing in the first place. That makes it vulnerable to the first problem in optics.
It’s kind of like the Dixie flag. It didn’t belong atop the Capitol any more. May a million private hick pickup trucks fly it.

My thought exactly as I saw how quickly Florida gave in. We have now been pushed down the slippery slope and need to find a foothold. Time to fight by financially supporting legal challenges and candidates with backbones.
By all means, let’s erase ourselves from public view. We wouldn’t want to offend anyone.
It’s a hard battle for a political entity to win in the face of optics. Nobody wants to be characterized as “not caring” about the Parkland shooting. There are worse shootings nationwide daily as far as sheer carnage, but none that boggle the mind like how the Parkland shooter slipped through all the cracks in broad daylight.

What is it with these crappy subhuman democrats that they need to discuss anything with their wives or infants before they make a decision that affects their constituents??!!
Why didn’t they disclose their decision making process before they ran for office?

That’s the impression I’ve gotten over the past two decades every time we drive through to and from Florida. I’m waiting for the Research Triangle signs to be in pink.
