TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that restricts gun sales and sets up a program to arm some teachers and other school employees. The bill is a response to the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and faculty dead. The final vote was 67-50. It came after an all-day debate on the measure. Democrats favored the gun control provisions in the bill – a ban on bump stocks, an increase in the minimum age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21 and a three-day waiting period for all gun sales – but object to the “guardian” program that would arm some teachers and other school staff.

For those over 21, there was a 3 day waiting period to purchase handguns in Florida before this bill.
The Florida Constitution imposes a mandatory three-day waiting period, excluding weekends and legal holidays, between the retail purchase and delivery of any handgun.1 This waiting period does not apply to concealed weapons permit holders or to the “trade-in of another handgun.”
The minimum age to purchase alcohol is 21 in all 57 states, and it's 21 to purchase tobacco in several states. (I'd favor a Constitutional Amendment to raise the voting age to 21, too.)

It may have been put in the bill but NOT included in this story. The Florida Governor has said he would support that exception to any new law banning those under 21 from buying a rifle.

Possession is not affected, so yes they would be grandfathered in.
How about private sellers? Are they suppose to start "carding" potential buyers that look like they might be under 21?
They were supposed to do that for those who looked under 18 for rifles, and under 21 for handguns already.
What if an 18 year old buys a rifle in Georgia or Alabama from a private seller and brings it into the state?
It is already against Federal law for ANYONE to make a face-to-face purchase of a firearm outside of your home state. The only place one can legally purchase (and take delivery of) long guns outside of their home state is from an FFL. An out-of-state FFL must determine that the long gun sale would be legal in the buyer's home state, which after this bill is signed into law, would not be. Out of state handgun sales must be shipped to an FFL in the buyer's home state for delivery to the purchaser.

you’re taking the leftist meaning of “regulation” from the founder’s amendment. there’s a reason leftist’s twist the original meanings of words.
I am very pro 2A. I am correctly interpreting the meaning of the clause. My point is whether or not violent and/or crazy people can be well trained and responsible.
The word “regulate” has come to have a negative connotation in modern society due to government overreach. Originally, the term meant orderly, well-disciplined. Regular in the sense of consistent and predictable good performance. The Regulator War in the then-frontier backcountry of the North Carolina colony was sparked by unfair, abusive and corrupt governance. They sought to “regulate” colonial government in the original sense. Consistent, predictable, good performance but most of all, fair to the governed. That’s practically the diametric opposite of the modern sense of the word.

No need for a Bumpfire stock. Amazingly fun! Accuracy is naturally compromised, though. Short handgun cartridges have the highest cyclic rate, since less bolt travel is needed.
Bumpfiring is 100% legal, and safe in a properly maintained modern sporting rifle. Some gun ranges do not like it, though, because they feel you don’t have adequate control of the firearm. I am sure that could well be the case of you bumpfired a cartridge anywhere from 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) on up.
The violent people, if they have felony convictions for violent crimes, should be in prison...no training for them.
The crazy people....the insane....if a court orders their confinement in a mental institution because of their mental illness....no training or firearms for them, either.
Of course, mental institutions were largely emptied decades ago because it wasn’t PC to confine people with severe mental illness. Their “rights” have to be protected, according to the left.
So if an inalienable right isn’t conveyed until you are 21, then you are a ward of the state until such time, having no other rights other than what is specified by the state.
Similar to you, I was given my first gun at 12. I would go hunting with dad prior to that and carried my BB gun to learn gun safety. When I was 18, I bought a Ruger Single-six 22 LR/.22 Magnum pistol. Now, a kid, under 21, according to what I’m reading, couldn’t receive a gun from his father. Bunch of BS!
oh good. sorry i misread you. then we’re agreed that “well regulated” has no place in this debate, and that this law is a clear violation of the 2A, i.e., the law of the land.

I am in Florida, and Gov Scott was tirelessly working to help during last year’s 2 hurricanes. He is not going to lose in Statewide Florida election. AFAIK the gun bill is still on hid desk waiting for his signature as of last night’s news.
