More than 1 million voted in Senate Democratic primary, providing a measure of partys energy
WASHINGTONThe 2018 fight for control of Congress began Tuesday, as Texas Democrats flooded the polls for the years first primary election and showed that the national wave of Democratic enthusiasm will buffet even traditionally Republican states.
Statewide turnout in the Senate Democratic primary race provided a measure of the partys energy: More than 1 million voted in the primary, almost double the number in 2014. But Democrats still lagged behind the 1.5 million who voted in the GOP Senate primary.

The MEDIA is the DEEP STATE.
Yeah, I don’t see any enthusiasm. All Dems had half the numbers except in all-Dem districts.
“”””But Democrats still lagged behind the 1.5 million who voted in the GOP Senate primary.””””””
The russians rigged it.
Odd that such a high Democrat turnout led to a trouncing for the Dims.
Was this the same Texas that’s in America?
I agree, one shouldn’t count their chickens too quickly, Never Trumpers like Red State and a number of the Cruz-ers have been so nasty; now they are calling victory already.
Cruz won 1.5 million voters out of what is probably about 16 million eligible voters in total. I will vote against the Democratic agenda and vote GOP. I also remember these other things too.
And the GOP primary was essentially Ted Cruz running unopposed. The Rats actually had races to come out for.
The Wall Street Journal SUCKS. It is no different than the NYTimes.
This lies about the fact that the turn out was about 6% demonrat and 10% of the republicams.
The “Blue Wave” in Texas ain’t so.
The ws urinal should stick to financial news but they won’t.
With a booming economy, more jobs, and more bonuses, anyone with a stake in their own economic well-being would be a fool to vote for a democrat.
I got the same impression looking at Drudge this am.
Fake news and Rat wishful thinking. Rat turnout was 6.9% and Repub turnout was 10.1%. And the headline is Rat enthusiasm?
And, if conservatives don’t get off their butts and get out and vote, another Jones type victory in Alabama will hit other states. Had the dead butts here in Alabama that voted for the Donald had gone and voted, Jones would not be in office until 2020. Didn’t like the Judge, rather have a dimo commie like Jones instead, too lazy to go vote. Yup, this is the way of the conservative movement. Not the leftists. They would vote for anyone on the left just to let the left win. That is their way. Bus them in by the thousands. Our side doesn’t even show up because it is not 75 and sunny. They turn up for the free stuff, free lunch and booze and smokes after the election.
The WSJ sounds just like the other Old Gray Hag, the NYT. In fact, the Times had a better analysis of the primary election in Texas.
AP has the same type of article. I wonder who else. They all must have got their 4:30 a.m. talking points.
This was indeed fake news. EVERY news organ is running with the fake news that 'rat enthusiasm was high. I early voted, but in this primary and a lot of people were running unopposed and there was little doubt who would win the rest of the races. I am surprised there were as many GOP voters as there were.
Doubling the participation rate is pretty impressive though. The GOP cant simply sit on its laurels. I get the impression that a lot of conservatives dont care.
“BUT Democrats still lagged behind the 1.5 million who voted in the GOP Senate primary.”
Too funny.
I will say that for 2018 Trump SHOULD go in FULL CAMPAIGN mode and light some fires.
Today the media still spinning whether or not there was a blue wave in Texas. All talk should be about a conservative wave in Texas. Red Commies in the Socialist Demokkkrat party got trounced.
The Democrats are not going to win a statewide race like Senate or Governor, and any one hoping they will is going to have their hopes dashed. Flip a House seat or two? Maybe. But defeat Cruz or Abbott? Not a chance.
