It sounds like President Trump is supporting Manchin/Toomey universal background check bill. Does anyone else get that impression?

But if he DOES, everyone will IGNORE it! EO’s are only binding on Federal Employees.

but in all seriousness, don’t you think it should have targeted ALL of us? Why are we still playing class warfare like the libtards do? This bill was a huge disappointment to me, especially with all the brackets, minor % reduction, yada yada. Trimmin’ around the edges at best

I just came over to FR to see what I expected to be a huge thread addressing this. It's on non-stop on Fox News.

Two things I can't believe: First, I can't believe that yours is the only thread on this event. Second, I can't believe I voted for this guy!

He's boasting that he's the one to finally push through the democrat anti-second amendment agenda. WTF???

A few things off the top of my head: This "weapons of war" nonsense (which he's bought into, hook, line, and sinker) -- unless I'm mistaken, some time back in the 1930's -- and someone correct me if I'm wrong -- the SCOTUS ruled that it is only "weapons of war" that are protected by the Second Amendment!

As I recall, the issue was a guy who had a sawed-off shotgun, and the case boiled down to a question of whether or not a short-barreled shotgun had any military application, and the prosecution asserted that it did not, and so, they ruled that the short-barreled shotgun was NOT legal, solely because it was of no use to the military.

It later turned out that it was being used by the military. But, the case was further complicated by the fact that the defendant died during the proceedings.

The point of this is that somehow, in the intervening years, the whole "military grade weapons" ruling has been turned on its head, completely topsy-turvy! And so, today, the Orwellian "truth" is that the only firearms that can be owned by "civilians" are precisely those which are not protected by the Second Amendment.

One more time, someone correct me if I'm mistaken on any of this.

In any event, my mind is reeling... The guy who was elected in large part because of his (implicit?) "no gun control will pass on my watch" promise is now handing over the store to the likes of Dianne Feinstein! She drones on and on over the laundry list of everything she's wanted for years, and he responds that they didn't have him in office then, and now there's a new Sheriff in town and things are gonna change.

WTF???

And I wonder how many people realize that "universal background checks" is newspeak for "no more private sales of firearms"?

end_rant :)

Time will tell...to me it looks much like a repeat of DACA, when it looked like he’d give the country away, only to leave the Democrats as the one preventing those ‘kids’ from becoming Americans.

"He’s selling us out and guaranteeing the Dems will take both houses in 2018."

With your attitude you will give the Dems an easy win. Fight back with your pen and phone you short sighted nit.

Sit back and be patient. All will work out. And the band played on.

I think they should have taken Cruz’s guns when he posted online that he wanted to be a professional school shooter.

Any sane person agrees but there were plenty of legal reasons to take his guns and detain him legally. That is not what Trump said. There is a difference and it is a big time difference.

As an attorney who handles an occasional domestic violence complaint, I can verify that here in New Jersey, gun confiscation follows DV’s like night follows day. Guns will be immediately seized if the cops know about them and the defendant will be flagged on NICS. The only way around it is to beat the rap outright or to win an extremely difficult case for an exception based on circumstances.

It is not his attitude that is the problem, it is yours. We are already one jumping Jim Jeffords away from 3 new liberals on the supreme court.

I flamed Trump’s ass in an email to the President. He’s on thin ice.

The last time Manchin/Toomey bill came up in the Senate it got 54 votes. The companion bill in the House has 200 co-sponsors. If President Trump comes out in support of it, it will pass and you will have to have a background check done in order for you to give your son your .22.

My post was #123 — It was going to be #1 when I began writing it — there were zero replies at that time — but when I was halfway through, my wife got back from work and filled me in on the latest series of crises at work and at church, some major, some trivial. I then came back to finish my post, hit the Send button, and shazam! There were 122 replies posted while I was in the other room talking with my wife!

I’m still shocked that this was the only thread covering this issue, given how earthshaking the implications of what was said at that meeting today.

Yeah, ok.

“He just gave license to cops to take weapons from anyone that they decide are crazy”

Because the president even has that power...silly me.

I listened. I did not like a lot of it. Incompetent failure of cops and government agencies, and they want to restrict law abiding Americans ability for self defense?

IMO, the shooting showed exactly why Americans need guns. Keystone Cops, Cowardly Cops, and stand down orders are abundant. And I did not hear one peep about SSRI drugs, such as Prozac which a lot of these killers were taking. Side effects can include homicidal, suicidal, mania, and hearing voices.

Cops in Chicago are outgunned, because the gangs have AK47s. If criminals can have true assault weapons, why can’t Americans have guns that give them a fighting chance?
Chicago cop was on the record to ban the public from having body armor-what the heck-that’s ridiculous.

Stock market is a herd mentality. No one wants to be last out the door. It can give others a chance to get bargains though.

When Napoleon lost at Waterloo, the Rothschild (banker)courier had safe passage, and so the Baron knew who won before anyone else. He started a sell off that the herd followed as if Napoleon had won.

Then, he went in and bought up the stocks real cheap and when it was all over he “owned” England at bargain prices.

Pages and Pages?

Who are they? I only know about Carter Page.

Are his sisters and his cousins and his aunts involved too?
