Yes , the Dems are setting him up for nice midterm disaster and then impeachment.
His comments were reckless .
Attacking the NRA is political suicide .
The Dems got good attack with. them .
He said he would have, not a law Van. Since he already caused the shooting in the first place people may take him seriously.
It was a sad performance but Lou Dobbs hasn't ragged on him yet. Right now he and Jim Jordon are mad at Jeff for using IG, to investigate FISA, instead of Special Council. If he loses them it will be a big deal.
Still don’t know how to read Trump, huh?
Federal government has been at war with the public for about 100 years, and the public is not just willing to give up freedom, it is demanding that freedom be taken from it, by force if necessary.
Mind boggling.
Should go the other way. Trump might be a better gun salesman than Obama was.
No harm in people believing that Trump aims to gun grab. Ends up arming the people more.
No, I don’t. I admit it.
Well, some of the gun manufactures could use the help-that’s for sure-sales are off. However, I’d prefer no further erosion of the 2cnd amendment-it’s bad enough, so I am not in favor of changes in the law and especially while everyone is all riled up and emotional.
In Missouri, we have made some good headway with rolling back restrictions, I’d hate to see that ruined with some Federal crappy law.
I also think that states and school boards are the principal parties that should determine school safety issues - not the FEDS. JMHO and everyone likely has a different one.
Agree on all points.
Queasy as when the duo of schumer and durbin flooded the airwaves with great news about a DACA deal?
This trick gets more interesting to me each time it plays out.
Yep - they really need a Hillary in the WH - would make their whines more applicable. Some folks insist on shooting themselves in the head and blaming others for it - in this case they’re blaming the “video” for their insanity.
Agree and the president knows that I would think. Hopefully that majority is never compromised.
We’ll see.
The traditional (even I bought it) and conventional view of Trump-—often touted by Rush-—is that he lays out HIS most extreme position and negotiations back to “the acceptable” gain/victory.
However, in DACA and I think some other discussions, we are seeing a very different negotiating ploy, based on the fact that he knows the DemoKKKrats will NEVER participate in giving him a victory.
That tactic is to give THEM everything they possibly want, knowing they will reject it. It separates them from their base (see today’s story about Dem incumbents now having a real difficult time running against the tax cuts and defecting).
At the same time, constitutionally (and since Trump isn’t a student of the constitution-—but “gets it” intrinsically), Trump forces BOTH parties constantly back to doing the process right constitutionally. I.e., he MAKES CONGRESS DO ITS JOB and take the heat. So when Trump says “I’ll take the heat,” he really means, “I’ll make it so you take the heat.”
So he knows intuitively that the DemoKKKrats will reject anything reasonable, while at the same time forcing ALL of congress to put itself out there.
Rs, in the case of tax cuts, did that by uniting. Trump (and the congressional Rs) knew it was their last chance or lose ALL their seats. Ds in the case of DACA, did that by uniting against. In this case. Trump is just repeating the “I’ll sign whatever you bring me” line and will say, “Well, not THAT,” knowing that even squish Republicans won’t go that far and that it will fail.
Anyway, that’s my take. So far we have two pieces of evidence.
BTW, there is a historical precedent for this and it was a disaster: In 1828 John C. Calhoun got the Senate Ds to unite behind an ultra-high tariff, which Ds and the south hated. It was so high, he was sure the northerners would reject it. “Nobody is that stupid, right?” Well, they said “We believe in tariffs. This is extreme, but it is a tariff.” So they passed the “Tariff of Abominations. Calhoun ended up speaking against HIS OWN BILL! It was a mess til Andrew Jackson forced them to reduce it, while simultaneously threatening to enforce it. So Trump’s danger is that at some point the Ds will say, “Well, he IS giving us what we want” and vote for it. Then the ball would really be back in his court.
And THAT, my friend, was the purpose of the Second Amendment, as a friend of mine said, “The reset button for the Constitution.”
Molon Labe - and I don’t really care what party you belong to.
