Over in Franceenlightened, cosmopolitan, welcoming France; the country most American liberals wish we were more likePresident Emmanuel Macron made the following announcement earlier this week:
Migrants who cross the Alps from Italy to France face a year in jail under a tough new law announced by President Macrons government yesterday.
The bill, which is designed to curb illegal immigration, makes it a criminal offence to enter France without going through one of the countrys 404 official border points. The maximum sentence for unauthorised crossing of a border will be a year in prison and a fine of 3,750. . .

Blogs are news and news is blogs yay blogs yay.
They will think twice about trying to come back in again.
I hear Mexico does not tolerate illegal aliens on its southern border.
When will the U.S. stop being played for suckers?
Finally, I should take note of this point. If illegal aliens from Mexico were conservative and voted mostly Republican, the Democrats under Obama would have had a wall 100 feet high and 25 feet thick from San Ysidro to Brownsville, Texas.
France waited that long to make unauthorized border crossings from Italy illegal? Wow! At least they’re doing something, as late as it is.
They should build a wall!

In Dubai, if you are even ONE DAY late in renewing your VISA, it’s immediate jail and a fine equivalent to $10,000. And you aren’t allowed bail until it is fully paid by someone outside.
I remember reading about this somewhere, a while back, and lo, there’s a Wiki on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_immigration_to_Singapore
The punishment for illegal immigration in the country are a mandatory caning sentence of not less than 3 strokes and a prison sentence.[2][3]
Illegal immigration has been steadily declining from 2001 to 2011.
Interesting.
Thanks for the post.
I like it but I'd go farther: a 2nd capture-10 years in prison and then deportation. 3rd time-life in prison.
It probably violates the Schengen Agreement and will likely get tossed out by some E.U. court.
Which is, by the way, why you should NEVER become part of the E.U.
So how is this going to work?
What? Other countries dont like ILLEGAL immigration?
This cant be.
3rd time:
Deportation back to home country from altitude...
I dont follow French politics too closely but I expected Macron to be a lefty lightweight loon like Trudeau in Canada. I was very surprised when trump popped over to Paris and Macron welcomes him with open arms rather than speechifying and hand wringing against him (looking at you, Teresa May). Then Ive seen some articles like this where he seems sensible. I dont know what to make of him, probably should read some more.
Yeah, nobody wants migrants to defecate and urinate on the climate-sensitive Alpine glaciers...
He is a leftie but seems to have been coached in Clintonian triangulation. He’s not fighting populist sentiment outright, he’s appearing to placate it. Appearing to. What this tells me is that they’re still worried about Le Pen and Front Nationale, otherwise they’d just do as they pleased.
A cheer from the North Korean Cheerleaders?
