Kerry: It Was ‘Strategic Thinking,’ Not a ‘Concession,’ to Leave Missiles Out of Iran Nuclear Deal

Setting aside Iran’s ballistic missile threats, support for terrorism and regional destabilization when crafting the nuclear deal was not a concession but “strategic thinking” on the part of the negotiators, former Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday.

As he has done frequently since leaving office, Kerry used the opportunity of the Munich Security Conference to defend, at length, the Obama administration’s 2015 nuclear deal which President Trump has threatened to abandon.

Kerry said that the U.S. recognized that the agreement being negotiated was not dealing with other problematic issues, including human rights abuses, missiles, arms shipments, support for Hezbollah, and its interference in Iraq and Yemen.

Although those were legitimate concerns, he said, the decision to leave them off the agenda was taken “not as a concession, but as a matter of strategic thinking.”

Kerry characterized that thinking as arising from a realization that the George W. Bush administration’s approach — demanding that Iran stop all uranium-enrichment — had gone “nowhere,” and a recognition that the problem could not be resolved through a military option. …

a recognition that the problem could not be resolved through a military option.

Which is why Kerry is an idiot. You keep that option on the table esp. for tyrannical regimes. They will respect little else.

I’d say “traitor” more than idiot. I always attribute such acts to malice, because claiming that they’re explained by stupidity is just too kind.

Oh, he’s delusional, that’s probably true as well, so was his boss.

What we are witnessing in Syria for the last 6 years, mass slaughter, chemical attacks, bombing of hospitals, this is ARAB STANDARD FARE. While the so-called “international community” cries crocodile tears and bites their combined pursed lips, the war crimes continue unabated.

This is the true litmus test of the Obama years.

Israel’s Netanyahu has been telling and warning us for years but we couldn’t give a flying cluster bomb.

Now Iran/Hizbollah/Russia are super emboldened thanks to Obama, Kerry, Wendy Sherman and a host of politicians who behaved line Neville Chamberlain in 1938.

“Is he nuts or what!?”

Nope, just stupid. Anyone who trusts the Iranians when they haven’t told the truth in over 50 years is just plain stupid.

Thanks Olog-hai. He was doing the thinking on behalf of our enemies, the Iranians, as usual.

A total blithering idiot, and always has been.

He thought he was JFK II. His very short tour in 'Nam must have been a terror for him. He just knew he was going to die and miss his legacy, thus his exit plan to get 3 purple hearts and his ticket home.

His strategy was probably the instructions detailed by ValJar for whatever evil purposes she had.

Your post reminded me of that “W Ketchup” that was launched as an alternative to Heinz so I looked it up. They continued to sell it up through 2015 - almost 11 years after that election.

If Kerry runs again I guess they could re-launch it as “Trump Ketchup” or something but that might violate a trademark for his official brands.

He even asked that the media start referring to him as “John F Kerry” during the election and some of them obliged. NBC was one - they had it on their graphic.
